Physiological studies indicate that the piriform or primary olfactory cortex of adult mammals exhibits a high degree of synaptic plasticity. Interestingly, a subpopulation of cells in the layer II of the adult piriform cortex expresses neurodevelopmental markers, such as the polysialylated form of neural cell adhesion molecule (PSA-NCAM) or doublecortin (DCX). Abstract A detailed composition analysis was performed for 22 diverse oils and fats and included determination of tocopherols (α, γ and δ), β-carotene, chlorophyll, total phenolic compounds (TPC) and fatty acid (FA) composition, as well as the determination of their oxidative stability (Rancimat test). In newborn mammals, the intestinal microbiota is first shaped by the dietary and immunological components of milk and then changes upon the introduction of solid food during weaning. Here, we explored the reactivity of the mouse intestinal immune system during the first weeks after birth and into adulthood. This study aims to identify single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) affecting the expression levels of bone-related mature microRNAs and thus, triggering an osteoporotic phenotype. An association analysis of SNPs located in pri-miRNA sequences with bone mineral density (BMD) was performed in the OSTEOMED2 cohort (n = 2183). Expression of mutant Huntingtin (HTT) protein is central to the pathophysiology of Huntington's Disease (HD). The E3 ubiquitin ligase MID1 appears to have a key role in facilitating translation of the mutant HTT mRNA suggesting that interference with the function of this complex could be an attractive therapeutic approach. Here we describe a peptide that is able to disrupt the interaction between MID1 and the α4 protein, a regulatory subunit of protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A).
