Exact treatment of operator difference equations with nonconstant and noncommutative coefficients

2013

We study a homogeneous linear second-order difference equation with nonconstant and noncommuting operator coefficients in a vector space. We build its exact resolutive formula consisting of the explicit noniterative expression of a generic term of the unknown sequence of vectors. Some nontrivial applications are reported in order to show the usefulness and the broad applicability of the result.

Existence and Regularity for a Class of Nonlinear Hyperbolic Boundary Value Problems

2002

AbstractThe regularity of the solution of the telegraph system with nonlinear monotone boundary conditions is investigated by two methods. The first one is based on D'Alembert-type representation formulae for the solution. In the second method the telegraph system is reduced to a linear Cauchy problem with a locally Lipschitzian functional perturbation; then regularity results are established by appealing to the theory of linear semigroups.

Kinetic models for nucleocytoplasmic transport of messenger RNA

1995

Abstract Much is known about the mechanism by which mRNAs cross the nuclear envelope (the translocation stage of nucleocytoplasmic transport), but far less is known about the preceding (intranuclear migration/release) and succeeding (cytoplasmic binding) stages. Therefore, existing information suffices for articulating detailed kinetic models of translocation, but not models for the overall mRNA transport process. In this paper, we show that simple kinetic models of translocation can (i) accommodate date about nucleocytoplasmic distributions of endogenous transcripts; (ii) predict the overall effects on these distributions of effectors such as insulin and epidermal growth factor; (iii) thro…

A New Fluorescent Method of Detection Structural and Functional Properties Of Cells and Immune State Of Organism

1999

It is very important for clinics to receive information about properties of immune competent cell lymphocyte (ly) with the express method. Fluorescence methods of analysis settled down these requirements [1], At Riga Technical University was synthesised a new fluorescent probe-derivative of 3-aminobenzanthrone — ABM ( conditional name). ABM is neutral membrane probe, non-toxic for cells, photostable, sensitive to polarity changes of microenvironment, localised in the depth of phospholipid bilayer of cell membrane. Flow cytometric experiments observed strong bimodal distribution with high (90%) and low (10%) ABM fluorescence intensity (F) respectively [2, J.Fluorescence (accepted)]. The spec…

Probability of hysterectomy in Germany

2018

Introduction Hysterectomy is the most common gynecological surgery in many industrialized countries. In Germany, the hysterectomy rate is high in comparison to other European countries. The aim of this analysis was to determine the distribution of age at hysterectomy as well as the age-specific probability of undergoing a hysterectomy between the ages of 0–64 in the German female population. Methods Analyses were based on data from the MARZY study, a prospective, randomized, population-based cohort study investigating early detection of cervical cancer in western Germany. At baseline, 6429 women were invited to attend cervical cancer screening. The distribution of age at hysterectomy as wel…

Adding symbolic information to picture models: definitions and properties

2005

AbstractIn the paper we propose extensions of some picture models, such as colored, drawn and pixel pictures. Such extensions are conceived by observing that a picture may embed more information than the shape, such as colors, labels, etc., which can be represented by a symbol from an alphabet and can be associated to segments, points or pixels. New interesting issues derived from the introduction of symbols will be investigated together with some complexity and decidability questions for the proposed extensions.
