Exact constants in Poincaré type inequalities for functions with zero mean boundary traces

2014

In this paper, we investigate Poincare type inequalities for the functions having zero mean value on the whole boundary of a Lipschitz domain or on a measurable part of the boundary. We find exact and easily computable constants in these inequalities for some basic domains (rectangles, cubes, and right triangles) and discuss applications of the inequalities to quantitative analysis of partial differential equations. Data structures and algorithms for topological analysis

2014

International audience; One of the steps of geometric modeling is to know the topology and/or the geometry of the objects considered. This paper presents different data structures and algorithms used in this study. We are particularly interested by algebraic structures, eg homotopy and homology groups, the Betti numbers, the Euler characteristic, or the Morse-Smale complex. We have to be able to compute these data structures, and for (homotopy and homology) groups, we also want to compute their generators. We are also interested in algorithms CIA and HIA presented in the thesis of Nicolas DELANOUE, which respectively compute the connected components and the homotopy type of a set defined by…

Overlapping community detection versus ground-truth in AMAZON co-purchasing network

2015

International audience; Objective evaluation of community detection algorithms is a strategic issue. Indeed, we need to verify that the communities identified are actually the good ones. Moreover, it is necessary to compare results between two distinct algorithms to determine which is most effective. Classically, validations rely on clustering comparison measures or on quality metrics. Although, various traditional performance measures are used extensively. It appears very clearly that they cannot distinguish community structures with different topological properties. It is therefore necessary to propose an alternative methodology more sensitive to the community structure variations in orde…

A Supervised Learning Framework for Automatic Prostate Segmentation in Trans Rectal Ultrasound Images

2012

International audience; Heterogeneous intensity distribution inside the prostate gland, significant variations in prostate shape, size, inter dataset contrast variations, and imaging artifacts like shadow regions and speckle in Trans Rectal Ultrasound (TRUS) images challenge computer aided automatic or semi-automatic segmentation of the prostate. In this paper, we propose a supervised learning schema based on random forest for automatic initialization and propagation of statistical shape and appearance model. Parametric representation of the statistical model of shape and appearance is derived from principal component analysis (PCA) of the probability distribution inside the prostate and PC…

Multiple Mean Models of Statistical Shape and Probability Priors for Automatic Prostate Segmentation

2011

International audience; Low contrast of the prostate gland, heterogeneous intensity distribution inside the prostate region, imaging artifacts like shadow regions, speckle and significant variations in prostate shape, size and in- ter dataset contrast in Trans Rectal Ultrasound (TRUS) images challenge computer aided automatic or semi-automatic segmentation of the prostate. In this paper, we propose a probabilistic framework for automatic initialization and propagation of multiple mean parametric models derived from principal component analysis of shape and posterior probability information of the prostate region to segment the prostate. Unlike traditional statistical models of shape and int…

Detecting Inference Channels in Private Multimedia Data via Social Networks

2009

International audience; Indirect access to protected information has been one of the key challenges facing the international community for the last decade. Providing techniques to control direct access to sensitive information remain insufficient against inference channels established when legitimate data reveal classified facts hidden from unauthorized users. Several techniques have been proposed in the literature to meet indirect access prevention. However, those addressing the inference problem when involving multimedia objects (images, audio, video, etc.) remain few and hold several drawbacks. In essence, the complex structure of multimedia objects makes the fact of detecting indirect a…

Reasoning with Vague Spatial Information from Upper Mesopotamia (2000BC)

2015

International audience; Concepts such as near, far, south of, etc., are by its own nature vague. However, they are quite common in human language. In the case of historical records, these concepts are often the only source of information regarding the position of ancient places whose exact location has been lost. In our research, we use digitized written records from Upper Mesopotamia (2000BC) from the HIGEOMES project. Our goal is to provide better understanding of the location of places, based on the analysis of spatial statements. In our approach, we analyse cardinal statements between places with known location. Using this information we construct a probabilistic function representing t…

Simulation of a UAV ground control station

2012

International audience; In this article we present the development of a UAV ground control station simulator. We propose a module based description of the architecture of this simulator. We recall the nonlinear model of a fixed-wing aircraft. Finally, we outline ideas for improved path planning tasks. The approach is made clearthrough several diagrams, figures of the resulting station are displayed.
