Behavioral data are notable for presenting challenges to their statistical analysis, often due to the difficulties in measuring behavior on a quantitative scale. Instead, a range of qualitative alternative responses is recorded. These can often be understood as the outcome of a sequence of binary decisions. For example, faced by a predator, an individual may decide to flee or stay. If it stays, it may decide to freeze or display a threat and if it displays a threat, it may choose from several alternative forms of display. This study increases knowledge and understanding of middle managers’ ethical decision-making and behaviour within the context of Finnish higher education. The aim of the research is to develop a new framework for ethical decision-making and behaviour by combining prior theories and empirical knowledge. En este trabajo desarrollamos un estudio exploratorio sobre la resolución de problemas de variabilidad con estudiantes de secundaria, maestros en formación y maestros en activo. Presentamos un cuestionario elaborado por los investigadores y, a partir de él, analizamos las respuestas de los estudiantes desde el punto de vista de la dificultad del problema y de la influencia que el contexto y el formato de los datos tiene sobre dicha resolución. En el análisis hacemos hincapié en la dificultad y los errores que supone para el alumnado el uso e interpretación de las medidas centrales cuando comparan conjuntos de datos.

Organic farming is increasing its share of total world food output and receiving grow-ing support from policymakers concerned with agricultural sustainability issues. This paper studies the characteristics of citrus farmers in the Spanish region of Valencia that affect their probability of becoming organic farmers. A fair understanding of these characteristics may help policymakers improve the design of agricultural policies aimed at supporting organic citrus practices. A posteriori error identities for nonlinear variational problems

A posteriori error estimation methods are usually developed in the context of upper and lower bounds of errors. In this paper, we are concerned with a posteriori analysis in terms of identities, i.e., we deduce error relations, which holds as equalities. We discuss a general form of error identities for a wide class of convex variational problems. The left hand sides of these identities can be considered as certain measures of errors (expressed in terms of primal/dual solutions and respective approximations) while the right hand sides contain only known approximations. En este trabajo se presenta una investigación descriptiva que muestra las relaciones entre cinco factores motivacionales y estratégicos (planificación, estrategias cognitivas, autocontrol, esfuerzo y autoeficacia) y el rendimiento en la resolución de problemas. Se administró a 66 maestras y maestros de primaria en formación un cuadernillo con dos problemas (problema 1 y problema 2) y el test de O'Neil y Schacter.
