Stability of chiral geometry in the odd–odd Rh isotopes: spectroscopy of 106Rh
2004
International audience; 136 P. Joshi et al. / Physics Letters B 595 (2004) 135–142AbstractThe nucleus 106Rh was populated using the reaction 96Zr(13C, p2n) at a beam energy of 51 MeV. γ -ray transitions wereidentified using the EUROBALL-IV γ -ray spectrometer and the DIAMANT charged particle array. The yrast band, which isbased upon a πg−19/2 ⊗ νh11/2 configuration, has been extended to I π = (22−). A new I = 1 band has been identified whichresides ∼ 300 keV above the yrast band. Core–quasiparticle coupling model calculations show reasonably good agreement withthe data. The properties of the two pairs of strongly coupled bands are consistent with a chiral interpretation for these states. 2…
Measuring Spatiotemporal Dependencies in Bivariate Temporal Random Sets with Applications to Cell Biology
2008
Analyzing spatiotemporal dependencies between different types of events is highly relevant to many biological phenomena (e.g., signaling and trafficking), especially as advances in probes and microscopy have facilitated the imaging of dynamic processes in living cells. For many types of events, the segmented areas can overlap spatially and temporally, forming random clumps. In this paper, we model the binary image sequences of two different event types as a realization of a bivariate temporal random set and propose a nonparametric approach to quantify spatial and spatiotemporal interrelations using the pair correlation, cross-covariance, and the Ripley K functions. Based on these summary st…
Status of the EDELWEISS experiment
1999
The Edelweiss Dark Matter Experiment is installed in the Modane Underground Laboratory since 1994. In 1997 the first detector of a 70 g heat and ionization Ge low-temperature detector built by the collaboration showed its discrimination capabilities. During the last two years the installation was upgraded, and a new generation of 70 g Ge detectors is operational. The detector environment is drastically controlled to avoid radioactive contamination. A test run with two new 70 g detectors shows a reduction by a factor of ten in the background level before 7-ray rejection which is now around 2 events/kg/keV/day. Three 320 g Ge cryogenic detectors have been constructed and are now being tested …
Complexity traits and synchrony of cryptocurrencies price dynamics
2021
AbstractIn this study, we characterized the dynamics and analyzed the degree of synchronization of the time series of daily closing prices and volumes in US$ of three cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin, over the period September 1,2015–March 31, 2020. Time series were first mapped into a complex network by the horizontal visibility algorithm in order to revel the structure of their temporal characters and dynamics. Then, the synchrony of the time series was investigated to determine the possibility that the cryptocurrencies under study co-bubble simultaneously. Findings reveal similar complex structures for the three virtual currencies in terms of number and internal composit…
Computer Simulations of I-Center Annealing in KCl and KBr Crystals. Theoretical Interpretation of Thermostimulated Experiments
1995
Results of computer simulations of the kinetics of correlated annealing of pairs of close α–I and F–I centers in KCI and KBr crystals, enhanced by I-center diffusion and Coulomb or elastic attractions, respectively, are presented. Special attention is paid to the conditions under which multi-stage annealing stages arise as it has been observed experimentally more than once. Our general conclusions are: (i) a weak elastic interaction affects the recombination kinetics and the survival probability even for relatively well-separated F–I pairs, the more so is true for the case of Coulomb attraction between charged α–I pairs; (ii) the multi-step (kink) structure arises only for close (typically,…

Statistical Properties of Generalized Strain Criterion for Multiaxial Random Fatigue
1989
ABSTRACT Statistical properties of generalized criterion of the maximum shear and normal strains on the fracture plane have been presented, Functions of probability distribution and spectral density of the equivalent strain have been analysed on the assumption that a random tensor of strain state is a six-dimensional stationary and ergodic Gaussian process. The expected value and variance of the equivalent strain have been determined as well. From spectral analysis a new limitation has been derived for extension of some multiaxial cyclic fatigue criteria to random loadings. It is connected with the fact that in some cases the frequency band of the equivalent strain is greater than that for …
Scattering lengths and universality in superdiffusive L\'evy materials
2012
We study the effects of scattering lengths on L\'evy walks in quenched one-dimensional random and fractal quasi-lattices, with scatterers spaced according to a long-tailed distribution. By analyzing the scaling properties of the random-walk probability distribution, we show that the effect of the varying scattering length can be reabsorbed in the multiplicative coefficient of the scaling length. This leads to a superscaling behavior, where the dynamical exponents and also the scaling functions do not depend on the value of the scattering length. Within the scaling framework, we obtain an exact expression for the multiplicative coefficient as a function of the scattering length both in the a…
