Propolis-Based Nanofiber Patches to Repair Corneal Microbial Keratitis

In this research, polyvinyl-alcohol (PVA)/gelatin (GEL)/propolis (Ps) biocompatible nanofiber patches were fabricated via electrospinning technique. The controlled release of Propolis, surface wettability behaviors, antimicrobial activities against the S. aureus and P. aeruginosa, and biocompatibility properties with the mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) were investigated in detail. By adding 0.5, 1, and 3 wt.% GEL into the 13 wt.% PVA, the morphological and mechanical results suggested that 13 wt.% PVA/0.5 wt.% GEL patch can be an ideal matrix for 3 and 5 wt.% propolis addition. Synthesis and biological properties of the seven alanine-modified analogues of the marine cyclopeptide hymenamide C

The synthesis and biological activity of the marine cyclopeptide hymenamide C(1), showing an inhibitory effect on human neutrophil elastase degranulation release, were recently described. Based on this result, it was decided to undertake a systematic structure-activity relationship study of this cyclopeptide, based on the Ala-scan technique, in order to obtain useful information for the rational design of additional analogues. The synthesis and characterization of the seven Ala modified analogues are reported and their biological and pharmacological properties are described.

This metatheoretical paper develops a list of new research targets by exploring particularly promising interdisciplinary contact points between empirical dream research and philosophy of mind. The central example is the MPS-problem. Normativity all the way down: from normative realism to pannormism

In this paper, I will give an argument for what I call pannormism, the view according to which if x instantiates a metaphysically basic normative property F, then whatever grounds the being of x also instantiates F. In slogan form: if there is normativity, there is normativity all the way down. Such pannormism is in many ways analogous to panpsychism, and my discussion also contains an important lesson for panpsychism, a way to avoid its so-called combination problem. In Sect. 1, I present the argument; in Sect. 2, I discuss its conclusion.

Deduction theorems within RM and its extensions

AbstractIn [13], M. Tokarz specified some infinite family of consequence operations among all ones associated with the relevant logic RM or with the extensions of RM and proved that each of them admits a deduction theorem scheme. In this paper, we show that the family is complete in a sense that if C is a consequence operation with CRM ≤ C and C admits a deduction theorem scheme, then C is equal to a consequence operation specified in [13]. In algebraic terms, this means that the only quasivarieties of Sugihara algebras with the relative congruence extension property are the quasivarieties corresponding, via the algebraization process, to the consequence operations specified in [13].

Controlling spatial inhomogeneity in prototypical multiphase microstructures

A wide variety of real random composites can be studied by means of prototypes of multiphase microstructures with a controllable spatial inhomogeneity. To create them, we propose a versatile model of randomly overlapping super-spheres of a given radius and deformed in their shape by the parameter p. With the help of the so-called decomposable entropic measure, a clear dependence of the phase inhomogeneity degree on the values of the parameter p is found. Thus, a leading trend in changes of the phase inhomogeneity can be forecast. It makes searching for possible structure/property relations easier. Some aspects of deformations of supersymmetric field theories

We investigate some aspects of Moyal-Weyl deformations of superspace and their compatibility with supersymmetry. For the simplest case, when only bosonic coordinates are deformed, we consider a four dimensional supersymmetric field theory which is the deformation of the Wess-Zumino renormalizable theory of a chiral superfield. We then consider the deformation of a free theory of an abelian vector multiplet, which is a non commutative version of the rank one Yang-Mills theory. We finally give the supersymmetric version of the $\alpha'\mapsto 0$ limit of the Born-Infeld action with a B-field turned on, which is believed to be related to the non commutative U(1) gauge theory.

Multiharmonic Correlations of Different Flow Amplitudes in Pb-Pb Collisions at ...

The event-by-event correlations between three flow amplitudes are measured for the first time in Pb-Pb collisions, using higher-order symmetric cumulants. We find that different three-harmonic correlations develop during the collective evolution of the medium when compared to correlations that exist in the initial state. These new results cannot be interpreted in terms of previous lower-order flow measurements since contributions from two-harmonic correlations are explicitly removed in the new observables. A comparison to Monte Carlo simulations provides new and independent constraints for the initial conditions and system properties of nuclear matter created in heavy-ion collisions. © 2021…
