El presente trabajo es consecuencia de la investigación de la Universitat de València que analizó la presencia de las mujeres en los contenidos de todas las asignaturas de la ESO en tres editoriales distintas. Se revisaron 109 manuales y los resultados que se obtuvieron fueron desastrosos: solo un 7,6 % de los personajes citados eran mujeres (López-Navajas, 2014).
