Cancer registries and data protection in the age of health digital interoperability in Europe: The perspective of the Italian Network of Cancer Regis…

2022

Population-based cancer registries (PBCRs) are advanced public health systems providing ongoing surveillance through systematic collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of high-quality data on cancer incident cases registered in a defined population residing in a specific geographical area (1, 2). Basically, PBCRs are well equipped for strengthening cancer surveillance, playing a strategic role in making geographic and temporal variation comparisons to highlight cancer epidemics, while assessing the effectiveness of preventive interventions and oncological care (3). Furthermore, many PBCRs provide cancer risk communication to local communities and authorities by using valuabl…

Long-term impacts of increased timber harvests on ecosystem services and biodiversity : A scenario study based on national forest inventory data

2020

The transition to a climate-neutral economy is expected to increase future timber demands and endanger the multifunctionality of forests. National scenario analyses are needed to determine long-term forest management impacts and support forest policy making in defining guidelines for the sustainable provision of forests’ ecosystem services and biodiversity (ESB). Using national forestry inventory data, the forest management model MASSIMO and a model to estimate harvesting costs, we simulated forest development in Switzerland under five politically relevant timber harvesting scenarios until 2106 (business as usual and four increased timber mobilisation scenarios). Model results were analysed…

Combined dynamics of the 500–600 nm leaf absorption and chlorophyll fluorescence changes in vivo: Evidence for the multifunctional energy quenching r…

2021

Carotenoids (Cars) regulate the energy flow towards the reaction centres in a versatile way whereby the switch between energy harvesting and dissipation is strongly modulated by the operation of the xanthophyll cycles. However, the cascade of molecular mechanisms during the change from light harvesting to energy dissipation remains spectrally poorly understood. By characterizing the in vivo absorbance changes (Delta A) of leaves from four species in the 500-600 nm range through a Gaussian decomposition, while measuring passively simultaneous Chla fluorescence (F) changes, we present a direct observation of the quick antenna adjustments during a 3-min dark-to-high-light induction. Underlying…

Polytetrafluoroethylene Films in Rigid Polyurethane Foams' Dielectric Permittivity Measurements with a One-Side Access Capacitive Sensor.

2021

As a non-metallic composite material, widely applied in industry, rigid polyurethane (PUR) foams require knowledge of their dielectric properties. In experimental determination of PUR foams’ dielectric properties protection of one-side capacitive sensor’s active area from adverse effects caused by the PUR foams’ test objects has to be ensured. In the given study, the impact of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) films, thickness 0.20 mm and 0.04 mm, in covering or simulated coating the active area of one-side access capacitive sensor’ electrodes on the experimentally determined true dielectric permittivity spectra of rigid PUR foams is estimated. Penetration depth of the low frequency excitation…

La "successione digitale"

2018

The article tackles the issue of digital contents’ regulation after the death of their owner, starting from the scope and content of «digital succession». It continues with the task of determining the regulatory framework concerning the devolution of both economic assets and personal or family memories stored on the Internet, under Italian Law of Succession and EU Regulation n. 650/2012 on European Certificate of Succession. Once considered the US «Revised Uniform Fiduciary Access to Digital Assets Act», the contribution also debates the development of new digital instruments and records, other than will and testament, formed by using online tools (such as Facebook «Legacy Contact»). In the…

CENNI COMPARATISTICI SULLA TUTELA DEI DISABILI

2021

The particularly broad and complex issue of the protection of disabled people in the Italian and English legal systems in this work is tackled by the comparative method, benefiting the research for the help of the categories of legislative and jurisprudential formants who play an apical role within their respective systems of sources of production of law. Despite significant differences in the protection concretely granted to disabled people in some fragments of daily life, from the view of the degree of legal protection and of its concrete and easy actionability, greater in the English system than in the Italian system, it has been possible to note that even on the Italian side, a clearer …
