Understanding the smartphone generation: is problematic smartphone use associated with low body esteem among adolescent girls and boys?

Contemporary adolescents increasingly engage with social media via their smartphones, and problematic smartphone use has been identified as a growing concern. The aim of the current study was to examine the association between problematic smartphone use and body esteem among adolescent boys and girls. A sample of 647 adolescents (mean age: 14.15 years; 56.7% females) completed measures of problematic smartphone use, emotional regulation, and body esteem. An investigation was carried out aimed to define the alimentary habit and rate of growth in two groups of students in Trapani and Milan. Information on alimentary habit was obtained by a multiple choice questionnaire; the rate of growth was evaluated determining auxological and nutritional status. A control system defined as "nutritional monitoring program" at national level, will determine the condition for a national multicenter program of obesity prevention.

Abstract. Cognitive dysfunction is a core feature of schizophrenia. Patients with schizophrenia shown perform poorly on tasks that require vigilance or sustained attention.
