Knochenbefunde bei Psoriasis

1978

Bilateral Iatrogenic Femoral Neuropathy

2015

Dear Editor, Postoperative femoral neuropathy is an uncommon complication associated with pelvic/abdominal surgery. The main mechanism underlying this neuropathy is stretching and/or prolonged compression of the nerve.1,2 The nerve compression can be caused by the self-retaining retractors that are sometimes used during surgery directly constricting the nerve against the pelvic sidewall and inducing ischemia.1 Symptoms of femoral neuropathy are weakness of ipsilateral hip flexion and knee extension, and sensory deficit on the anteromedial thigh. The prognosis is generally good, with partial or complete recovery being common. Postoperative femoral neuropathy is generally unilateral2,3,4; bil…

Comparison of pegylated interferon α-2b plus psoralen PUVA versus standard interferon α-2a plus PUVA in patients with cutaneous T-cell lymphoma

2011

Objective  The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy profile of pegylated interferon α-2b (PEG-IFN α-2b) in combination with photochemotherapy (PUVA) in the treatment of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL) in comparison with standard IFN α plus PUVA. Design  Retrospective cohort study over a period of 7 years. Patients and interventions  A total of 17 consecutive CTCL patients (stage IA–IV) were retrospectively analysed for toxicity and response rates associated with PEG-IFN α-2b (1.5 μg/kg weekly) plus PUVA (n = 9) or standard IFN α-2a (9 MIU 3×/week) plus PUVA (n = 8). Main outcome measures  Differences of response rates (complete/partial remission), progression-free surv…

AB0467 EFFECTIVENESS OF GOLIMUMAB AFTER TNF-INHIBITOR FAILURE IN PATIENTS WITH ACTIVE RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS, PSORIATIC ARTHRITIS, OR AXIAL SPONDYLOART…

2021

Background:Golimumab showed trial efficacy in subjects with active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) previously treated with TNF-inhibitors (TNFi); no trial data are available for psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA).Objectives:To assess the effectiveness of golimumab after TNFi failure in patients with RA, PsA, or axSpA in a real-world setting.Methods:GO-BEYOND-Italy is an ongoing, multicenter, prospective, observational study of RA, PsA, or axSpA patients starting golimumab after TNFi failure. Patients were enrolled between July 2017 and December 2019, and followed for 1 year, with evaluations at 3, 6, and 12 months. This interim analysis estimates the effectiveness after…

FRI0662 ACTIVATION AND LEUKOCYTE ADHESION IS ASSOCIATED WITH VASCULAR DAMAGE IN PATIENTS WITH RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS AND PSORIATIC ARTHRITIS

2019

Background Patients with inflammatory rheumatic diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) or psoriatic arthritis (PsA), have a higher cardiovascular risk than the general population. There are data in other pathologies about the role of leukocyte adhesion on endothelial damage. Objectives To evaluate the relationship between leukocyte adhesion and subclinical vascular damage in patients with RA and PsA. Methods Observational, cross-sectional exploratory study. Patients with RA and PsA who had at least one previous vascular study were recruited in a tertiary hospital during a period of 3 months. All of them donated a sample of fresh blood. Neutrophils were isolated and perfused on a monola…

AB0266 METHOTREXATE AND CARDIOVASCULAR RISK IN RHEUMATIC DISEASES:A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW

2021

Background:The management of inflammatory rheumatic disease has evolved in the last decade with the importance of the management of comorbidities. Methotrexate is the cornerstone of inflammatory rheumatic disease management, but its cardiovascular effects are still poorly understoodObjectives:To assess the cardiovascular impact of methotrexate in inflammatory rheumatic disease. Methods:A systematic review of the literature, following the prisma recommandations, was performed on the PubMed and Embase databases with the following keywords: (“Methotrexate”) AND (“cardiovascular”). We included papers written in English and including patients older than 18 years.Results:570 references were identi…

Induction of Type-Specific Neutralizing Antibodies by Capsomeres of Human Papillomavirus Type 33

2001

Abstract The immunogenicity of capsomeres of human papillomavirus type 33 was evaluated in a dose–response analysis. Capsomeres were obtained free of capsids by expression of L1 carrying the single point mutation C427S. Neutralizing antibodies were detected using an in vitro pseudoinfection assay. Capsomeres induced type-specific, neutralizing antibodies in mice even in the absence of adjuvant. The neutralization titers of immune sera raised without adjuvant were 10- to 20-fold lower than those of antisera to virus-like particles, but virtually identical using Freund's adjuvant. These data indicate that capsomeres may substitute for virus-like particles in future vaccines when used with an …

Orthogonal switching of AMS axes during type-2 fold interference : Insights from integrated X-ray computed tomography, AMS and 3D petrography

2017

We applied X-ray computed microtomography (μ-CT) in combination with anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS) analysis to study metamorphic rock fabrics in an oriented drill core sample of pyrite-pyrrhotite-quartz-mica schist. The sample is extracted from the Paleoproterozoic Martimo metasedimentary belt of northern Finland. The μ-CT resolves the spatial distribution, shape and orientation of 25,920 pyrrhotite and 153 pyrite grains localized in mm-thick metapelitic laminae. Together with microstructural analysis, the μ-CT allows us to interpret the prolate symmetry of the AMS ellipsoid and its relationship to the deformation history. AMS of the sample is controlled by pyrrhotite porphyro…
