A 63-year-old woman experienced progressive respiratory distress and psoriatic plaques. The radiographic images showed diffuse interstitial infiltrates. The surgical open lung biopsy revealed an obliteration of the alveolar spaces by plugs of connective tissue distributed within the terminal bronchioles, alveolar ducts and spaces. No relevant cause was determined, and she was diagnosed with idiopathic organising pneumonia. The patient was discharged with oral glucocorticosteroid and supplemental oxygen therapy. Abstract Background Exposure to cigarette smoke is considered a major risk factor for the development of lung diseases, since its causative role has been assessed in the induction and maintenance of an inflamed state in the airways. Lung fibroblasts can contribute to these processes, due to their ability to produce proinflammatory chemotactic molecules and extracellular matrix remodelling proteinases. Among proteolytic enzymes, gelatinases A and B have been studied for their role in tissue breakdown and mobilisation of matrix-derived signalling molecules. This paper proposes a non-stationary channel model in which real-time dynamics of the mobile station (MS) are taken into account. We utilize Brownian motion (BM) processes to model targeted and non-targeted dynamics of the MS. The proposed trajectory model consists of both drift and random components to capture both targeted and non-targeted motions of the MS. The Brownian trajectory model is then employed to provide a non-stationary channel model, in which the scattering effects of the propagation area are modelled by a non-centred one-ring geometric scattering model. Lung cancer is the most common cancer-related death worldwide. In Germany it accounts for 25% of cancer deaths in men, and 14% in women. The aim of this study is to provide an overview of 5-year relative survival by sex, age, histology, and tumour stage in Germany representing a population of 26.7 million people.The study is based on a pooled German dataset including data from 12 population-based cancer registries covering around one third of the German population.
