The distributional effects of capital account liberalization

Abstract Episodes of account liberalization increase the Gini measure of inequality, based on panel data estimates for 149 countries from 1970 to 2010. These episodes are also associated with a persistent increase in the share of income going to the top. We investigate three channels through which these impacts could occur. First, the impact of liberalization on inequality is stronger where credit markets lack depth and financial inclusion is low; positive impacts of liberalization on poverty rates also vanish when financial inclusion is low. Can Fiscal Policy Stimulus Boost Economic Recovery?

We assess the role played by fiscal policy in explaining the dynamics of asset markets. Using a panel of ten industrialized countries, we show that a positive fiscal shock has a negative impact in both stock and housing prices. However, while stock prices immediately adjust to the shock and the effect of fiscal policy is temporary, housing prices gradually and persistently fall. Consequently, the attempts of fiscal policy to mitigate stock price developments (e.g. via taxes on capital gains) may severely de-stabilize housing markets. Solāro paneļu faktiskās efektivitātes izpēte Latvijas klimatā

Darba mērķis ir noteikt kā polikristālisko un monokristālisko solāro paneļu ražotāju standarta testa apstākļos noteiktā efektivitāte atšķiras no faktiskās efektivitātes konkrētos klimatiskos apstākļos. Šim mērķim Rīgā, Latvijā 2018. gadā tika uzstādīts solāro paneļu komplekts to jaudas un saražotās enerģijas ilgtermiņa novērošanai. Darbā tiek analizēts gan kā solāro paneļu saražotais enerģijas daudzums mainās pa mēnešiem un sezonāli, gan arī kā to efektivitāti ietekmē paneļa telpiskā orientācija, leņķis pret horizontu, paneļa tips, temperatūra un solārā starojuma intensitāte.

Abstract The out-of-plane dynamic response of a moving plate, travelling between two rollers at a constant velocity, is studied, taking into account the mutual interaction between the vibrating plate and the surrounding, axially flowing ideal fluid. Transverse displacement of the plate (assumed cylindrical) is described by an integro-differential equation that includes a local inertia term, Coriolis and centrifugal forces, the aerodynamic reaction of the external medium, the vertical projection of membrane tension, the bending resistance, and external perturbation forces. A method for detecting malfunctions in PV solar panels based on electricity production monitoring

In this paper a new method is developed for automatically detecting outliers or faults in the solar energy production of identical sets (sister arrays) of photovoltaic (PV) solar panels. The method involves a two-stage unsupervised approach. In the first stage, "in control" energy production data are created by using outlier detection methods and functional principal component analysis in order to remove global and local outliers from the data set. In the second stage, control charts for the "in control" data are constructed using both a parametric method and three non-parametric methods.
