Brain tissue is particularly susceptible to oxidative damage, which has been associated with pathological findings of Alzheimer's disease (AD), such as amyloid plaques and protein fibrils. Oxidative stress alterations, including increased production of reactive oxygen metabolites, decline of antioxidant systems, and decreased efficiency in repairing molecules, have been linked to the development of AD. Postmortem studies on brain tissue from AD patients have shown several oxidative damage markers, such as increased lipid peroxidation, oxidative damage of proteins, glyco-oxidation, and reduction of antioxidant systems. Es wird ein Verfahren zur quantitativen Bestimmung verschiedener Opiumalkaloide nebeneinander beschrieben, das auf der direkten Auswertung von DC durch Remissionsmessung mit Hilfe eines Chromatogramm-Spektralphotometers beruht. Anstelle des bisher ublichen Messpaltes wurde fur die Auswertung eine Kreisblende benutzt. Hierbei ist vorteilhaft, das die Form der Absorptions-Orts-Kurven keinen Einflus auf die Mesgenauigkeit besitzt, da nur die Peakhohe ausgewertet wird. New records of Cynipid gall wasps and inquilines for the Italian peninsula and Sicily and their new host plants for the Palaearctic Region are listed and commented on. Among them we find: Cerroneuroterus cerrifloralis (Mullner 1901) as new for Italy and new for the Palaearctic region as host on Quercus suber; Andricus multiplicatus Giraud 1859 on Q. suber, as new host for the Palaearctic region; Aylax papaveris (Perris 1839), reported in Italy over a century ago, but later overlooked; Cerroneuroterus minutulus (Giraud 1859), also reported more than a century ago from Sicily, but later overlooked. Papaverine decreases the efflux of42K in guinea-pig atrial heart muscle

The effects of papaverine on resting potential and efflux of42K were investigated in guinea-pig left atria. Papaverine significantly reduced the potassium efflux in beating preparations. In resting preparations, the efflux of potassium was only slightly affected. However, the resting potential was significantly reduced by papaverine by about 5 mV.

Il saggio presenta alcune considerazioni conclusive sulla sezione monografica dedicata a Istituzioni, relazioni e culture politiche nelle città tra stato della Chiesa e regno di Napoli (1350-1500 ca.). I tre autori, adottando un approccio comparativo, riflettono sulla definizione degli spazi nelle due aree confinanti, sulla condizione delle città pontificie e sulle culture politiche e le specificità dei centri urbani considerati nella raccolta.

For studies of the evolution of development in angiosperms, early‐diverging eudicot taxa are of particular interest for comparisons with established core eudicot model plants, such as Arabidopsis. Here we provide a detailed description of shoot and floral development of the basal eudicot California poppy (Eschscholzia californica). Rosette formation in the vegetative phase is accompanied by increased leaf complexity and shoot apex size. The flowering phase is characterized by internode elongation, formation of dissected cauline leaves, terminal flowers, and basipetal inflorescence branching.
