Functional analysis of the isoforms of an ABI3-like factor of Pisum sativum generated by alternative splicing

2009

At least seven isoforms (PsABI3-1 to PsABI3-7) of a putative, pea ABI3-like factor, originated by alternative splicing, have been identified after cDNA cloning. A similar variability had previously only been described for monocot genes. The full-length isoform, PsABI3-1, contains the typical N-terminal acidic domains and C-terminal basic subdomains, B1 to B3. Reverse transcriptase-PCR analysis revealed that the gene is expressed just in seeds, starting at middle embryogenesis; no gene products are observed in embryo axes after 18 h post-imbibition although they are more persistent in cotyledons. The activity of the isoforms was studied by yeast one-hybrid assays. When yeast was transformed …

Job strain in the public sector and hospital in-patient care use in old age : a 28-year prospective follow-up

2014

Background: high job strain increases the risk of health decline, but little is known about the specific consequences and long-term effects of job strain on old age health. Objectives: purpose was to investigate whether physical and mental job strain in midlife was associated with hospital care use in old age. Methods: study population included 5,625 Finnish public sector employees aged 44–58 years who worked in blue- and white-collar professions in 1981. The number of in-patient hospital care days was collected from the Finnish Hospital Discharge Register for the 28-year follow-up period. Results: rates of hospital care days per 1,000 person-years for men were 7.78 (95% confidence interval…

Metal‐Free Twofold Electrochemical C−H Amination of Activated Arenes: Application to Medicinally Relevant Precursor Synthesis

2020

Abstract The efficient production of many medicinally or synthetically important starting materials suffers from wasteful or toxic precursors for the synthesis. In particular, the aromatic non‐protected primary amine function represents a versatile synthetic precursor, but its synthesis typically requires toxic oxidizing agents and transition metal catalysts. The twofold electrochemical amination of activated benzene derivatives via Zincke intermediates provides an alternative sustainable strategy for the formation of new C−N bonds of high synthetic value. As a proof of concept, we use our approach to generate a benzoxazinone scaffold that gained attention as a starting structure against ca…

2-(Naphthalen-1-ylamino)cyclohexanol

2011

The title compound, C16H19NO, was synthesized under solvent-free conditions by reaction of 7-oxa-bicyclo[4.1.0]heptane and naphthalen-1-amine in the presence of Ca(CF3COO)2 as catalyst. The cyclohexane ring adopts a chair conformation. In the crystal, molecules are linked by intermolecular N—H...O hydrogen bonds and C—H...π interactions into chains parallel to the c axis.

“I feel, I know, I am immortal”: literary works in the newspapers of Soviet prisons and camps in the 1920s

2021

Abstract The present article sheds new light on the newspapers and other publications of the Soviet prison camps in the 1920s and early 1930s. The first part reconstructs the institutional dynamics that brought about the publication of newspapers, wall newspapers and other periodicals produced inside the camps. The article then focuses on a selection of literary works published by inmates and on the importance of Soviet newspapers published in places of detention as a source for the study not only of the history of the Gulag, but also of its culture and literature.

Bis(N,N′-diphenylbenzamidinium) fumarate

2010

The crystal structure of the title compound, 2C(19)H(17)N(2) (+)·C(4)H(2)O(4) (2-), consists of centrosymmetric trimers built up of two crystallographically independent N,N'-diphenyl-benzamid-in-ium cations and one fumarate dianion, which is located on a centre of inversion. The components of the trimers are linked by N-H⋯O hydrogen bonding. In the cation, the outer rings make dihedral angles of 53.66 (5) and 78.38 (5)° with the central ring. The two outer rings make a dihdral angle of 81.49 (5)°.

7-[(3-Chloro-6-methyl-6,11-dihydrodibenzo[c,f][1,2]thiazepin-11-yl)amino]heptanoic acidS,S-dioxide hydrochloride

2012

In the title compound, C(21)H(26)ClN(2)O(4)S(.)Cl, also known as tianeptine hydro-chloride, the seven-membered ring adopts a boat conformation. The dihedral angle between the mean planes of the benzene rings is 44.44 (7)°. There is an intra-molecular hydrogen bond formed via S= O⋯H-N. In the crystal, mol-ecules are connected via pairs of N-H.·O, N-H⋯Cl and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, forming inversion dimers, which are consolidated by C-H⋯O inter-actions. The dimers are linked by C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl inter-actions, forming a two-dimensional network lying parallel to (011).
