Geodiversity and geoheritage: Detecting scientific and geographic biases and gaps through a bibliometric study
2019
Abstract Many scientists have recognized that there is diversity in nature, including biodiversity, geodiversity, and pedodiversity. Studies in biodiversity date back as far as the 1700s, but geodiversity and pedodiversity studies are much more recent, dating to the late 1970s to early 1980s. Given that we are now approaching 40 years of geodiversity and geoheritage work, this study was undertaken to determine areas that have been well addressed and where current gaps are. This was accomplished by reviewing the publications in the journal “Geoheritage”, the Scopus and Google Scholar databases, and established geoparks according to UNESCO records. It was found that geodiversity studies typic…
GOVERNANCE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN THE NEBRODI’S NATURAL PARK
2007
The paper aims to analyse the environment of the Nebrodi’s Natural Park (Sicily) and the economic effects on the territory and on its inhabitants. In a recent vision, the economic development doesn't depend only from the availability of economic resource but it also depends from the so-called “extra-economic”resources, such as the social and cultural context, the political and social integrational degree, the know-how, the entrepreneurial offer and the services to enterprises. Today natural parks represent a “big box” in which nature, landscape, culture and traditions are, at the same time, “preserved” and “invested” for an economic growth. Moreover, the institution of the natural park - wh…
Association between greenspace and lung function in Italian children-adolescents
2022
Background: Few studies have examined the impact of urban greenspace exposure on lung function in children-adolescents, and the available evidence is still inconsistent. The aim of the current study was to verify the hypothesis that the effects of greenspace exposure vary with differing levels of lung function of children-adolescents. Methods: Between November 2005 and May 2006, 2150 children-adolescents (age-range: 10-15 years) living in the city of Palermo were enrolled in a cross-sectional survey. Parents were interviewed through a modified version of the Italian Studies on Respiratory Disorders in Children and the Environment (SIDRIA) questionnaire. All children-adolescents performed sp…
Dabas vērtību diskursi Gaujas nacionālajā parkā
2022
Dabas aizsardzības pamatā esošās idejas laika gaitā ir mainījušās. Sākot no ļoti šaura skatījuma uz konkrētu sugu aizsardzību līdz pat dabas aizsardzības integrēšanai kopējās attīstības kontekstā. Atšķirīgs skatījums par aizsargājamām dabas vērtībām iespējams arī vienas aizsargājamās teritorijas ietvaros, šajā gadījumā Gaujas nacionālajā parkā. Parka dibināšana īstenota cita politiskā režīma ietvaros, kurā prioritāri tika izvirzīta atšķirīgu dabas vērtību aizsardzība. Kamēr mūsdienās valsts oficiālais viedoklis pārstāv modernās dabas aizsardzības idejas, sabiedrības viedokļi par dabas aizsardzību Gaujas nacionālajā parkā nav viennozīmīgi. Īstenojot vēsturiskā konteksta analīzi un citas pētn…
Orthoptera (Insecta: Tettigonioidea, Pyrgomorphoidea, Acridoidea) of Kafa Biosphere Reserve, Bale Mountains National Park and other areas of conserva…
2016
An annotated checklist of 51 Orthoptera taxa (Tettigonioidea, Pyrgomorphoidea and Acridoidea) of Kafa Biosphere Reserve, Bale Mountains National Park and some additional sites in Ethiopia is presented. Ten species are newly recorded for the country. Four species are new to science: Peropyrrhicia attilioi n. sp., P. keffensis n. sp., P. semiensis n. sp. and Coryphosima danieli n. sp. The status of Peropyrrhicia cooperi Uvarov, 1934 and P. scotti Uvarov, 1934 is revised: both are considered valid species.
Aspilota-group (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Alysiinae) diversity in Mediterranean Natural Parks of Spain
2014
This work analyses the biodiversity of the Aspilota-group (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Alysiinae) in three Mediterranean Natural parks: Natural Park of La Font Roja, Natural Park of Las Lagunas de la Mata-Torrevieja and Natural Park of La Tinença de Benifassà. Samples were carried out from April 2004 to December 2007. In total, 822 specimens, belonging to 52 species, were collected. Alpha, beta and gamma diversities were analysed, and the Tinença Park was proven to have higher diversity than the Font Roja and Torrevieja. Also, the structure of the Aspilota-group community was analysed.

O utworzeniu Parku Narodowego "Puszcza Śląska"
2016
National Park is in Рolish law one of the most important protection form that is dedicated to areas sustained in natural conditions, having fairly untouched vegetation and biodiversity. Despite that the Silesian Forest-Nature District has a unique areas in terms of nature values as well as cultural and biodiversity heritage, no national parks were established here until now. In the proposed national park of Silesian Forest 50 legally protected plant species were noted, in this 16 listed as threatened in Polish Red Data Book. More than 130 plant species were found rare within the area. Approximately 250 legally protected animal species are found within park borders that are permanent residen…
Identification, ecology and use blood meals from hematophagous Diptera (Glossinidae, Stomoxys and Tabanidae) for noninvasive sampling of wildlife in …
2015
The contact between human and wild fauna has considerably increased during these last decades due to the increase of human population size but also to conservation policies. As a consequence, the number of zoonotic diseases soared with a mean of six new infectious diseases per year, 75% of whom being vectorially transmitted. The way to avoid the human contamination by these emergent diseases is based on the efficient vector control resulting from a deep knowledge of the ecology and the feeding behavior of the different vector species. During our work, we have identified and characterized the ecology of 6 tsetse species (Glossina palpalis palpalis, G. fuscipes fuscipes, G. fusca congolense, …
Vidzemes muižu saimniecības sistēma: Nurmižu muižas piemērs, 1561.-1920.
2018
