K2MIII2(MVIO4)(PO4)2 (MIII = Fe, Sc; MVI = Mo, W), Novel Members of the Lagbeinite-Related Family: Synthesis, Structure, and Magnetic Properties
2012
The possibility of PO(4)(3-) for MoO(4)(2-) partial substitution in the langbeinite framework has been studied by exploration of the K-Fe(Sc)-Mo(W)-P-O systems using the high-temperature solution method. It was shown that 1/3PO(4)(3-) for MoO(4)(2-) substitution leads to formation of three novel compounds K(2)Fe(MoO(4))(PO(4))(2), K(2)Sc(MoO(4))(PO(4))(2), and K(2)Sc(WO(4))(PO(4))(2) with slightly increased lattice parameters and significant distortion of the anion tetrahedra without structure changes. In contrast, the antiferromagnetic structure is modified by substitution in the low-temperature region. The structural peculiarities are discussed in light of bond-valence sums calculations.
Synthesis and Crystal Structure of a Novel Lamellar Barium Derivative: Ba(VOPO4)2·4H2O. Synthetic Pathways for Layered Oxovanadium Phosphate Hydrate…
1997
A unified synthetic strategy has allowed us to rationalize the preparative chemistry of the layered oxovanadium phosphates M(VOPO4)2·nH2O. Thus, we have been able to isolate as single phases with reasonable yields both all the previously characterized phosphates and a new solid containing Ba2+ cations as guest species as well as to prepare new related derivatives involving arsenate anions. In order to organize the experimental results, we have used two complementary models: a simple restatement of the partial charge model (PCM), and the valence matching principle (VMP) (derived from the bond valence method). The crystal structure of the new barium lamellar derivative, Ba(VOPO4)2·4H2O, has …
Mo-containing tetragonal tungsten bronzes. The influence of tellurium on catalytic behaviour in selective oxidation of propene
2009
Abstract Te-free and Te-containing multicomponent Mo-based catalysts presenting tetragonal tungsten bronze (TTB) structure have been prepared, characterized and tested for the selective oxidation of propene. The catalysts were prepared hydrothermally and heat treated at 700 °C. The structural characterization performed by means of XRD, FTIR, SAED and HRTEM confirms the incorporation of tellurium to the TTB structural framework and shows that its presence does not modify in essence the crystalline structure. However, the incorporation of Te strongly modifies the catalytic performance, and the highest yield to acrolein has been achieved on catalysts with Te/Mo atomic ratios in bulk of 0.03. T…
A new result on impulsive differential equations involving non-absolutely convergent integrals
2009
AbstractIn this paper we obtain, as an application of a Darbo-type theorem, global solutions for differential equations with impulse effects, under the assumption that the function on the right-hand side is integrable in the Henstock sense. We thus generalize several previously given results in literature, for ordinary or impulsive equations.
Mappings of Finite Distortion:¶Discreteness and Openness
2001
We establish a sharp integrability condition on the partial derivatives of a mapping with L p -integrable distortion for some p>n− 1 to guarantee discreteness and openness. We also show that a mapping with exponentially integrable distortion and integrable Jacobian determinant is either constant or both discrete and open. We give an example demonstrating the preciseness of our criterion.
A SIMPLE PARTICLE MODEL FOR A SYSTEM OF COUPLED EQUATIONS WITH ABSORBING COLLISION TERM
2011
We study a particle model for a simple system of partial differential equations describing, in dimension $d\geq 2$, a two component mixture where light particles move in a medium of absorbing, fixed obstacles; the system consists in a transport and a reaction equation coupled through pure absorption collision terms. We consider a particle system where the obstacles, of radius $\var$, become inactive at a rate related to the number of light particles travelling in their range of influence at a given time and the light particles are instantaneously absorbed at the first time they meet the physical boundary of an obstacle; elements belonging to the same species do not interact among themselves…
Reconfigurable electrical interconnection strategies for photovoltaic arrays: A review
2014
Non-uniform irradiance significantly decreases the power delivered by solar photovoltaic arrays. A promising technique for compensating these power losses relies on dynamically reconfiguring the electrical connections between photovoltaic modules. This paper presents the current state-of-the-art strategies for photovoltaic array reconfiguration in order to increase the power output under partial shading and mismatch conditions. The different approaches have been compared in terms of effectiveness of the control algorithms, monitored electrical and environmental variables, overall hardware complexity and specific features of each solution. Finally, the most challenging aspects of the reconfi…
AnyDSL: a partial evaluation framework for programming high-performance libraries
2023
This paper advocates programming high-performance code using partial evaluation. We present a clean-slate programming system with a simple, annotation-based, online partial evaluator that operates on a CPS-style intermediate representation. Our system exposes code generation for accelerators (vectorization/parallelization for CPUs and GPUs) via compiler-known higher-order functions that can be subjected to partial evaluation. This way, generic implementations can be instantiated with target-specific code at compile time. In our experimental evaluation we present three extensive case studies from image processing, ray tracing, and genome sequence alignment. We demonstrate that using partial …
U-Pb data on zircons for the thermal peak of metamorphism in the Variscan Odenwald, Germany
1995
U-Pb data are presented for zircons from metamorphic rocks of the crystalline Odenwald that comprises part of the Mid-German Crystalline Rise. The Odenwald can be divided into four principal domains with different magmatic and metamorphic histories on the basis of published structural and petrological data and the presented ages. In the eastern (Boll-stein) Odenwald the metasedimentary rocks contain zircons derived from basement rocks that exceed 2.2 Ga in age. The intrusion of granitic magmas into these metasedimentary rocks took place before or close to the end of the thermal peak of metamorphism at 375 ± 5 Ma ago. Rapid uplift of the Bollstein Odenwald occurred at about 320 Ma bp, later …
Partial data inverse problems for Maxwell equations via Carleman estimates
2015
In this article we consider an inverse boundary value problem for the time-harmonic Maxwell equations. We show that the electromagnetic material parameters are determined by boundary measurements where part of the boundary data is measured on a possibly very small set. This is an extension of earlier scalar results of Bukhgeim-Uhlmann and Kenig-Sj\"ostrand-Uhlmann to the Maxwell system. The main contribution is to show that the Carleman estimate approach to scalar partial data inverse problems introduced in those works can be carried over to the Maxwell system.
