Narrowed Family Spaces: Interlocking Couples in Intimate Partner Violence

Starting from a presentation of the phenomenon of intimate partner violence and of its various possible forms, this paper presents an overview of the most recent theoretical contributions on the topic, the dynamics of abuse in the couple and the main psychodynamic aspects that explain the possible manifestations and peculiarities of the effects of violence, both from the point of view of the abuser and the victim. This research examined gendered positioning in therapeutic conversations, especially in treatment of intimate partner violence (IPV). A feminist-informed reading combined with a discursive psychological approach was applied in three studies on positioning in therapeutic conversations. This reading focused on gendered positioning, gendered power and cultural discourses. Thus, the aim of this research was to examine how gender is constructed in therapeutic conversations that deal with couple relationship issues, and how the power distribution this entails is addressed in these conversations. Apmierinātība ar partnerattiecībām un uztvertais stress saplūdušās un nukleārās ģimenēs.

Bakalaura darba mērķis ir noskaidrot, kādas atšķirības apmierinātībā ar partnerattiecībām un uztverto stresu pastāv starp indivīdiem nukleārās un saplūdušās ģimenēs. Pētījuma izlasi veido 610 indivīdi, no kuriem 430 ir partnerattiecībās nukleārā ģimenē un 180 — saplūdušā ģimenē. Darbā tiek izmantotas divas aptaujas: Apmierinātība ar partnerattiecībām un Uztvertā stresa skala. Pētījuma rezultāti liecina, ka nav statistiski nozīmīgas atšķirības starp salīdzināmajām grupām attiecībā uz apmierinātību ar partnerattiecībām un uztverto stresu. The previous literature has identified certain pervasive challenges, and suggested a variety of ways to change partnerships, ranging from improvement of current collaboration activities to fundamental transformation of the hegemonic Eurocentric criteria for knowledge. Tämä tutkimus tarkastelee lähisuhteissaan väkivaltaisten miesten käsityksiä seksistä heteroseksuaalisen, monogamisen parisuhteen kontekstissa. Huomio kiinnittyi seksille annettuihin merkityksiin, väkivallan ja seksin erottamiseen tai yhdistämiseen sekä seksin sukupuolittamisen tapoihin hoitoryhmissä käydyissä keskusteluissa. Electrodermal activity in couple therapy for intimate partner violence

The aim of this study was to examine the extent to which intimate partner violence (IPV) is discussed in couple therapy, what the participants say about it and how, and how the participants’ electrodermal activity (EDA) is activated during these discussions. We studied four couples for whom IPV was an issue in dialog with their therapists. We used thematic analysis and examined the differences in EDA (measured as skin conductance responses, SCRs) between the participants. We found that although IPV was discussed relatively little in therapy, when the topic arose the victims took an active part in the discussion.
