Object Recognition and Modeling Using SIFT Features

In this paper we present a technique for object recognition and modelling based on local image features matching. Given a complete set of views of an object the goal of our technique is the recognition of the same object in an image of a cluttered environment containing the object and an estimate of its pose. The method is based on visual modeling of objects from a multi-view representation of the object to recognize. The first step consists of creating object model, selecting a subset of the available views using SIFT descriptors to evaluate image similarity and relevance. Here, we have used the Co-writer scenario in which a child is asked to teach a robot how to write via demonstration on a tablet, combined with a series of games we developed to train specifically pressure, tilt, speed, and letter liaison controls. We describe in detail a method for calibrating a multispectral imaging system based on interference filters. The calibration aims to remove systematic noises introduced by the sensor, and optic and/or filters from multispectral images. After which, we can correct the non-linearity of the sensor response. Systematic noises are measured through a rigorous protocol for acquiring offset, and thermal, and Flat-Field images. Abstract This paper describes an automated method for extracting the apparent positions of fiducial points from 2D or 3D images of a phantom. A putative social chemosignal elicits faster cortical responses than perceptually similar odorants.

Social chemosignals, so-called pheromones, have recently attracted much attention in that effects on women's psychophysiology and cortical processing have been reported. We here tested the hypothesis that the human brain would process a putative social chemosignal, the endogenous steroid endrostadienone, faster than other odorants with perceptually matched intensity and hedonic characteristics. Chemosensory event-related potentials (ERP) were recorded in healthy women. ERP analyses indicate that androstadienone was processed significantly faster than the control odorants. In order to improve the performance of a linear autoassociator (which is a neural network model), we explore the use of several preprocessing techniques. The gist of our approach is to store, in addition to the original pattern, one or several pre-processed (i.e. filtered) versions of the patterns to be stored in a neural network. Automated Detection of Optic Disc Location in Retinal Images

This contribution presents an automated method to locate the optic disc in color fundus images. The method uses texture descriptors and a regression based method in order to determine the best circle that fits the optic disc. The best circle is chosen from a set of circles determined with an innovative method, not using the Hough transform as past approaches. An evaluation of the proposed method has been done using a database of 40 images. On this data set, our method achieved 95% success rate for the localization of the optic disc and 70% success rate for the identification of the optic disc contour (as a circle).
