Inhalation is the preferred route of drug administration in chronic respiratory diseases because it optimises delivery of the active compounds to the targeted site and minimises side effects from systemic distribution. The choice of a device should be made after careful evaluation of the patient's clinical condition (degree of airway obstruction, comorbidities), as well as their ability to coordinate the inhalation manoeuvre and to generate sufficient inspiratory flow. We introduce Koras–Russell fiber bundles over algebraically closed fields of characteristic zero. After a single suspension, this exhibits an infinite family of smooth affine [Formula: see text]-contractible [Formula: see text]-folds. Moreover, we give examples of stably [Formula: see text]-contractible smooth affine [Formula: see text]-folds containing a Brieskorn–Pham surface, and a family of smooth affine [Formula: see text]-folds with a higher-dimensional [Formula: see text]-contractible total space.

AbstractLet M be a smooth compact Riemannian manifold without boundary, and ϕ:M×ℝ→M a transitive Anosov flow. We prove that if the time-one map of ϕ is C1-approximated by Axiom-A diffeomorphisms with more than one attractor, then ϕ is topologically equivalent to the suspension of an Anosov diffeomorphism.

Sediments carried in suspension represent a fundamental part of fluvial transport. Nonetheless, largely because of technical problems, they have been hitherto widely neglected in provenance studies. In order to determine with maximum possible precision the mineralogy of suspended load collected in vertical profiles from water surface to channel bottom of Rivers Ganga and Brahmaputra, we combined Raman spectroscopy with traditional heavy-mineral and X-ray diffraction analyses, carried out separately on low-density and dense fractions of all significant size classes in each sample (multiple-window approach).
