Cadmium(ii) coordination polymers based on substituted malonic acid: synthesis, characterization and photoluminescence properties

2017

Four novel complexes of cadmium(II) with alkyl/aryl-substituted malonate ligands of formulae {[Cd(Memal)(H2O)]6·0.5H2O}n (1), [Cd(Etmal)(H2O)]n (2), [Cd(Butmal)(H2O)]n (3) and [Cd(Bzmal)(H2O)]n (4), (Memal = methylmalonate, Etmal = ethylmalonate, Butmal = butylmalonate and Bzmal = benzylmalonate) have been prepared and characterized by single crystal X-ray analysis. Their luminescence, UV-Vis absorption properties and thermal behaviour were also investigated. Complex 1 is a three-dimensional compound where each metal centre is connected to four other ones leading to a sodalite network with the point symbol {42·64}. Each cadmium(II) ion in 1 is seven-coordinate with a water molecule and six …

Genesi geometrica delle volte centriche

1996

A comprehensive analysis of vaulted bodies involves the study of the multiple components necessary for their definition: geometric configuration construction system historical-geographical area of belonging interpretations Stylistic. The objective of this study is directed to the 'analysis of continuous vaults on a centric plan definable through the laws of Euclidean geometry. The investigation arises within the boundaries related to their geometric configuration and the criterion adopted freed from typological or stylistic classifications proposes the identification of geometric families based on the figure of the basic polygon of the plant. An ordering process can be identified to explain the compositional process of curved-roofed central plants: that is the elaboration of a series of theoretical models developed according to an abacus referring to the basic geometries of the triangle square and pentagon is possible. It is not intended to impose a classification but to propose a study tool that thanks to a few simple compositional rules develops a very large number of configurationthe question remains as to why only a part has been used for the realization of vaulted covered centric buildings but this presumes considerations of a historical formal and constructive nature extraneous to this discussion.Settore ICAR/17 - Disegno

Dynamic Magnetic and Optical Insight into a High Performance Pentagonal Bipyramidal Dy(III) Single-Ion Magnet

2017

The pentagonal bipyramidal single-ion magnets (SIMs) are among the most attractive prototypes of high-performance single-molecule magnets (SMMs). Here, a fluorescence-active phosphine oxide ligand CyPh2PO (=cyclohexyl(diphenyl)phosphine oxide) was introduced into [Dy(CyPh2PO)2(H2O)5]Br3⋅2 (CyPh2PO)⋅EtOH⋅3 H2O, and combined dynamic magnetic measurement, optical characterization, ab initio calculation, and magneto-optical correlation of this high-performance pseudo-D5h DyIII SIM with large Ueff (508(2) K) and high magnetic hysteresis temperature (19 K) were performed. This work provides a deeper insight into the rational design of promising molecular magnets.

Surface plasmon propagation in metal nanowires

2012

Plasmonic circuitry is considered as a promising solution-effectivetechnology for miniaturizing and integrating the next generation ofoptical nano-devices. The realization of a practical plasmonic circuitry strongly depends on the complete understanding of the propagation properties of two key elements: surface plasmons and electrons. The critical part constituting the plasmonic circuitry is a waveguide which can sustain the two information-carriers simultaneously. Therefore, we present in this thesis the investigations on the propagation of surface plasmons and the co-propagation of surface plasmons and electrons in single crystalline metal nanowires. This thesis is therefore divided into …

A Bis(mu-phenoxo)-Bridged Dizinc Complex with Hydrolytic Activity

2013

The dinuclear complex [Zn2(papy)2]·2CH3OH [H2papy = N- (2-hydroxybenzyl)-N-(2-picolyl)glycine] was synthesized and characterized. The crystal structure of the complex reveals that both ZnII ions are pentacoordinate with distorted pentagonal bipyramidal coordination arrangements. The phenoxyl groups of each ligand bridge the two metal atoms, whereas each carboxylate of the ligand is terminally bound to one ZnII ion. Potentiometric studies of the ZnII:H2papy system in a methanol/water mixture show the existence of a mononuclear species at lower pH; but at a pH above 5, a dimeric species starts to dominate and transforms further into a bis(μ-phenoxo) bridged dizinc complex by deprotonation of …

Mono-organotin(IV) and tin(IV) derivatives of 2-mercaptopyridine and 2-mercaptopyrimidine: X-ray structures of methyl-tris(2-pyridinethiolato)tin(IV)…

1997

Mono-organotin(IV) and tin(IV) derivatives of 2-mercaptopyridine (HSPy) and 2-mercaptopyrimidine (HSPym), RSnL 3 (R=Me, n-Bu, Ph; L=SPy, SPym; R=Bz=benzyl, o-CIBz, oClC 6 H 4 , p-ClC 6 H 4 , o-tolyl, p-tolyl; L=SPy), RSnCIL 2 (R=Me, n-Bu, Ph; L=SPy, SPym), RSnCI 2 L (R=Me, n-Bu; L=SPy, SPym) and SnCI 4-n L n (L=SPy, SPym; n=2,4) were obtained from RSnCI 3 or SnCI 4 and NaL or by neutralization (R=Ph,p-tolyl; L=SPy, SPym). RSnCIL 2 and RSnCI 2 L were better prepared by comproportionation of RSnCI 3 and RSnL 3 . MeSn(Spy) 3 and PhSn(SPy) 3 .1.5CHCI 3 crystals, as determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, are monoclinic. In the discrete monomeric RSn(SPy) 3 units, three bidentate SPy lig…

Table of Periodic Properties of Fullerenes Based on Structural Parameters.

2004

The periodic table (PT) of the elements suggests that hydrogen could be the origin of everything else. The construction principle is an evolutionary process that is formally similar to those of Darwin and Oparin. The Kekulé structure count and permanence of the adjacency matrix of fullerenes are related to structural parameters involving the presence of contiguous pentagons p, q and r. Let p be the number of edges common to two pentagons, q the number of vertices common to three pentagons, and r the number of pairs of nonadjacent pentagon edges shared between two other pentagons. Principal component analysis (PCA) of the structural parameters and cluster analysis (CA) of the fullerenes perm…

Pentagon functions for massless planar scattering amplitudes

2018

Loop amplitudes for massless five particle scattering processes contain Feynman integrals depending on the external momentum invariants: pentagon functions. We perform a detailed study of the analyticity properties and cut structure of these functions up to two loops in the planar case, where we classify and identify the minimal set of basis functions. They are computed from the canonical form of their differential equations and expressed in terms of generalized polylogarithms, or alternatively as one-dimensional integrals. We present analytical expressions and numerical evaluation routines for these pentagon functions, in all kinematical configurations relevant to five-particle scattering …

A unique single carboxylate-bridged spin-frustrated chiral Mn(II) metallatriangle.

2010

The reaction between Hmbpymca ligand (prepared in situ from the hydrolysis of 5-methyl-4-cyano-bispyrimidine with NaOH and further neutralization with 2 M HCl) and Mn(ClO(4))(2)·4H(2)O in 1:1 molar ratio afforded the triangulo-trimanganese(II) complex [Mn(3)(bpymca)(3)(H(2)O)(6)]Cl(3)·6H(2)O 1. The chloride anions in this complex come from the HCl used in the neutralization process. The molecular structure of 1 consists of cationic molecular triangles [Mn(3)(μ-mbpymca)(3)(H(2)O)(6)](3+) with C(3) symmetry, chloride anions and crystallization water molecules, all of them involved in an extensive network of hydrogen bonds, leading to a chiral network. Within the [Mn(3)(μ-mbpymca)(3)(H(2)O)(6)…
