Studies showed that endothelin-1 (ET-1) was increased in the acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Experimental studies reported that captopril was able to reduce ET-1 secretion, and that ET-1 was increased during reperfusion. This study was aimed to verify if captopril was able to reduce plasma ET-1 during thrombolysis in AMI. Objective. The correlation of cardiac output and cerebral perfusion is unclear. We tested this potential association by correlating cardiac output data obtained by echocardiography and cerebral blood flow data as determined by color M-mode measurements of carotid artery blood flow. Methods. We studied 43 patients with a broad spectrum of cardiac performance by means of transthoracic echocardiography. Aim: Superoxide dismutase (SOD) is important to control reactive oxygen species, but the relevance to human disease like coronary artery disease (CAD) and underlying ischemia/reperfusion injury is not clarified. Methods: For this study, 2239 patients with known CAD were prospectively followed with a median follow-up time period of 3.6 years and a maximum of 6.9 years. During follow-up cardiovascular death was reported in 103 cases.
