Objectives: The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of burnout syndrome and depression symptoms among periodontology practitioners, as well as the relationship with socio-demographic variables and work stress. Study Design: A total of 284 subjects, members of the Spanish Society of Periodontology (SEPA), were selected for this study. This study aimed to histomorphometrically evaluate the soft tissue reactions of one-piece zirconia implants versus titanium implants in regard to their insertion depth. Four one-piece implants of identical geometry were inserted on each side of six mongrel dogs: an uncoated zirconia implant, a zirconia implant coated with a calcium liberating titanium oxide, a titanium implant, and an experimental implant made of a synthetic material. The use of cleaning instruments on titanium implants may cause undesired surface alterations. In a qualitative and quantitative assessment of these alterations, 5 titanium implant abutments were treated with a steel curet, a prototype pure titanium curet, an air abrasive polishing system, and an ultrasonic system. Custom-made polymer templates, used to secure the curet to a vertical guide bar and a spring scale to maintain a constant instrument pressure, guaranteed a standardized procedure and reproducible results. Abstract This paper reports the treatment of prepubertal periodontitis in a 3–year-old girl with Papillon-Lefevre Syndrome. Initially, the patient was found to have a myeloperoxidase deficiency and microbiological tests have identified Bacteroides and Fusobacterium, in 60% and 25%, respectively of the total number of microbial flora cultivated. The initial treatment was extraction of all the primary teeth with grade 3 mobility, scaling, root planing and daily subgingival irrigation with a 0.2% solution of chlorhexidine.
