Sortase A Inhibitors: Recent Advances and Future Perspectives

Here, we describe the most promising small synthetic organic compounds that act as potent Sortase A inhibitors and cater the potential to be developed as antivirulence drugs. Sortase A is a polypeptide of 206 amino acids, which catalyzes two sequential reactions: (i) thioesterification and (ii) transpeptidation. Sortase A is involved in the process of bacterial adhesion by anchoring LPXTG-containing proteins to lipid II. Sortase A inhibitors do not affect bacterial growth, but they restrain the virulence of pathogenic bacterial strains, thereby preventing infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus or other Gram-positive bacteria. SummaryThe VIPS framework is a four-part definition of person-centred care for people with dementia (PCC), which arose out of an earlier review article for this journal. The definition has assisted in the practical application of person-centred care. It has been operationalized into the VIPS practice model (VPM), which has been subject to a recent randomized controlled trial within Norwegian nursing homes. In this paper I propose some reflections on the role of gender perspective in the construction of the psychological knowledge, examining the implications and limitations of some of the lines developed up to the moment in this area to the treatment of differences and to answer to questions of inequality, to finally suggest some proposals to tackle the study of gender power relations and the construction of critical knowledges which could encourage the advance towards equality and social justice.

There is a renewed interest in the study of online word-of-mouth behavior due to the increasing use of the Internet and the development of social networks. This paper focuses on the receiver perspective to analyze the unequal influence of the antecedents of online consumer searches. The main purpose is to detect the heterogeneity of the effect of different motivations (convenience, risks reduction and social reassurance) and the volume of comments on the willingness to check online reviews. This paper presents a series of proposals to innovate in the field of teacher training from a critical perspective. We use art and design education incorporating creative aspects that range from the textual discourses of visual culture (cinema) and typography to issues of sexual diversity and queer dissidences. We promote creative experiences by introducing as a reference the study of typographies designed for films that raise LGBT issues. This study aims at investigating the parent-adolescent communication of Finnish families from a multi informant perspective. Thirteen- and fourteen-year-old adolescents (n = 171) and their parents were asked to complete a questionnaire examining positive and problematic communication between the two parties. Information about their family structure was collected. The results indicated an interrelationship between parental and adolescent assessments, particularly regarding negative aspects of communication.
