Impact of pharmaceutical intervention on quality of life and coping strategies in patients with haematological malignancies

2015

Summary Objectives We conducted a prospective study approved by the local ethics committee to determine the impact of a pharmaceutical intervention (PI) on pain, fatigue, quality of life (QoL) and coping strategies in patients with HMs starting chemotherapy sessions. Material and methods Patients received either usual care (UC) + PI (PI group) or UC alone (UC group). They had to complete 2 questionnaires, QLQ-C30 and MAC 21, at 3 different time points: before starting the 1st chemotherapy session (T1), during the intercure (T2) and the day before starting the 2nd chemotherapy session (T3). To determine predictive factors of pain, fatigue, QoL and coping scores at T3, a multivariate ANOVA wa…

Physician pharmacist practice groups : consistency and feasibility in the primary healthcare system. Evaluation of an experiment in France

2022

The regulation of drug prescription by general practitioners is based on various mechanisms, but unlike other countries (Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland), it does not include practice groups between general practitioners and community pharmacists (GPMPs). This thesis analyses the coherence and, above all, the feasibility of such practice groups in our health system. The first chapter presents a macroeconomic and microeconomic analysis of the drug prescription by French general practitioners (GPs). It emphasises that it is an important target for regulatory policy because of its contribution to health expenditure but also its health impact, with prescriptions whose relevance could be i…

Pedro Gutiérrez Bueno (1743-1822) y las relaciones entre la química y la farmacia durante el último tercio del siglo XVIII

2001

This paper is part of a general research project on the role that chemistry played in transforming experimental pharmacology during nineteenth-century Spain. Within this general framework, this paper deals with the main characteristics of chemistry textbooks written by Pedro Gutiérrez Bueno (1745-1822), a pharmacist who taught chemistry in several institutions during the late eighteenth century. In an earlier paper, we have analysed the intended public of the first edition of Gutiérrez Bueno`s textbook. This paper deals with the changing institutional context in which the second edition was published. This issue is closely connected with substantial transformations in the relationship betwe…

Adherence to immunomodulatory drugs in patients with multiple myeloma

2018

Background Immunomodulatory drugs (thalidomide, lenalidomide and pomalidomide; IMID) are widely used in the treatment of multiple myeloma patients. To date, few data are available on IMID adherence in multiple myeloma patients. The aim of our study was to evaluate IMID adherence and to compare two indirect methods to measure IMID adherence in multiple myeloma patients: a specific questionnaire and the medication possession ratio (MPR). Another aim was to explore this specific questionnaire for the assessment of IMID adherence in multiple myeloma patients. Methods All consecutive multiple myeloma patients, with at least two consecutive dispensations of thalidomide, lenalidomide or pomalidomi…
