Enduring Sacred Places: The Astronomical Orientation of the Iberian Cave-Sanctuary of Cueva Santa del Cabriel in Spain

This paper presents the results of an archaeoastronomical study of the Iberian Iron Age cave-sanctuary of Cueva Santa del Cabriel, near the town of Mira in the province of Cuenca, Castilla-La Mancha, central Spain, together with a review of the latest archaeological and ethnographical data about the site. We found that the cave's 12 m-long access corridor is oriented precisely along the summer solstice sunset, so that the north wall of the main gallery is partially illuminated by sunlight at this time. Irradiation effects in CaF2probed by Raman scattering

The formation conditions and dynamics of Ca colloids and point defects that appear in irradiated single crystals of CaF2 were investigated by Raman spectroscopy. The intensity changes in the Raman spectra because of the presence of different concentrations of point defects and Ca colloids that emerged in CaF2 after irradiation with 2.2 GeV Au ions were used to study their distribution and stability under illumination with three laser wavelengths (473, 532 and 633 nm) at different output powers (2 to 200 mW). A damage saturation at a fluence of 6 × 1011 ion cm−2 was observed. The dependence of the spectral changes on the ion fluence can be described by a core/halo damage cross-section model.…
Flexible and efficient computer-aided design tool for advanced comb-line rectangular waveguide filters

A very flexible and efficient computer-aided design CAD tool, specifically suited for advanced comb-line rectangular waveguide filters, is presented in this work. The developed software tool, which makes use of a full-wave analysis technique based on the Boundary Integral-Resonant Mode Expansion method, allows loading the considered comb-line resonators with any number of radially symmetrical partial-height metallic posts. The implemented CAD tool also allows dealing with coupling windows of arbitrary cross-section, thus drastically enhancing the flexibility of the CAD process. An exact method for the determination of differential leakage factors in electrical machines with non-symmetrical windings

An exact and simple method for the determination of differential leakage factors in polyphase ac electrical machines with non-symmetrical windings is presented in this paper. The method relies on the properties of Gorges polygons that are used to transform an infinite series expressing the differential leakage factor into a finite sum in order to significantly simplify the calculations. Some examples are shown and discussed in order to practically demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Integral-Imaging display from stereo-Kinect capture

In this paper, we propose a new approach in order to improve the quality of microimages and display them onto an integral imaging monitor. Our main proposal is based on the stereo-hybrid 3D camera system. Originally, hybrid camera system has dissimilarity itself. We interpret our method in order to equalize the hybrid sensor's characteristics and 3D data modification strategy. We generate integral image by using synthetic back-projection mapping method. Finally, we project the integral image onto our proposed display system. We illustrate this procedure with some imaging experiments in order to prove an advantage of our approach.
Temperature Coefficients of Crystal Defects in Multicrystalline Silicon Wafers

This article investigates the influence of crystallographic defects on the temperature sensitivity of multicrystalline silicon wafers. The thermal characteristics of the implied open-circuit voltage is assessed since it determines most of the total temperature sensitivity of the material. Spatially resolved temperature-dependent analysis is performed on wafers from various brick positions; intragrain regions, grain boundaries, and dislocation clusters are examined.
