ANTIMICROBIAL DITERPENOID ALKALOIDS FROM ERYTHROPHLEUM SUAVEOLENS (GUILL. & PERR.) BRENAN

2005

An investigation of the stem bark of Erythrophleum suaveolens (Guill. & Perr.) Brenan yielded the known amide norcassaide ( 1 ) and a new diterpenoid alkaloid named norerythrosuaveolide ( 2 ) which was characterized as 7β-hydroxy-7-deoxo-6-oxonorcassaide. The structures were established on the basis of one and two-dimensional 1 H and 13 C NMR spectral data. The compounds showed potent antimicrobial activities against bacteria and yeasts. Reduced in vitro T-cell responses induced by glutaraldehyde-modified allergen extracts are caused mainly by retarded internalization of dendritic cel…

2012

Summary Although allergen-specific immunotherapy is a clinically effective therapy for IgE-mediated allergic diseases, the risk of IgE-mediated adverse effects still exists. For this reason, chemically modified allergoids have been introduced, which may destroy IgE-binding sites while T-cell activation should be retained. The aim of the study was to analyse the differences between intact allergens and differently modified/aggregated allergoids concerning their internalization as well as T-cell and basophil activation. For this purpose human monocyte-derived immature dendritic cells (DC) were incubated with Phleum pratense or Betula verrucosa pollen extract or with the corresponding allergoi…

An approach to erythrophleum alkaloids. Synthesis of methyl (−)-4-epi-cassamate

1986

Abstract A synthetic approach to Erythrophleum alkaloids, involving as a key-step the regiospecific deprotonation of the ketone 5a, is described.

Defoliation and the availability of currently assimilated carbon in the Phleum pratense rhizosphere

2002

Abstract It has been hypothesised that defoliation and aboveground herbivory increase the availability of currently assimilated C to organisms living in plant rhizospheres. We established a growth chamber experiment consisting of Phleum pratense individuals growing in sand culture to examine the short- and long-term effects of defoliation on the availability of current C assimilates in the P. pratense rhizosphere. Using 14CO2 pulse labelling, we followed partitioning of currently assimilated C between shoots, roots and rhizosphere-derived organic matter (RDOM). The experiment constituted of two treatments, defoliation history and recent defoliation, in a fully factorial design. Defoliation …
