Enantioselective Synthesis of P-Chirogenic Phosphorus Compounds via the Ephedrine-Borane Complex Methodology

2008

The stereoselective synthesis of P-chirogenic organophosphorus compounds using the versatile ephedrine-methodology is reported. The principle of the method is based on the diastereoselective preparation of 1,3,2-oxazaphospholidine borane 3 from ephedrine 2 and regio- and stereoselective ring-opening of the heterocycle leading to an aminophosphine borane 4. Finally, these ring-opening products 4 are easily transformed into P-chirogenic organophosphorus compounds, by subsequent highly stereoselective reactions involving electrophilic or nucleophilic strategies.

<title>Spatial correlation of latent image centers active in photostimulable luminescence of irradiated doped alkali halides</title>

2001

Changes in the photostimulated luminescence (PSL) spectrum of an electron irradiated KBr:Tl single crystal in relation to the A-luminescence spectrum upon direct activator ion excitation in the A-absorption band (AL) are found. Based on the view about the spatial correlation between F and activator hole centers, it is suggested that anion vacancy is an additional perturbing factor fot he activator (Tl+) excited (p-electron) state which is already subject to the dynamical Jahn-Teller effect. Dependences of the PSL efficiency on activator (In+) concentration in KBr:In samples irradiated by UV-light (6.30-6.45 eV), X-rays (30 keV or electrons (5.6 keV), are compared. The possible role of 6.45 …

Mixed microalgae culture for ammonium removal in the absence of phosphorus: Effect of phosphorus supplementation and process modeling

2014

Microalgal growth and ammonium removal in a P-free medium have been studied in two batch photobioreactors seeded with a mixed microalgal culture and operated for 46 days. A significant amount of ammonium (106 mg NH4-Nl(-1)) was removed in a P-free medium, showing that microalgal growth and phosphorus uptake are independent processes. The ammonium removal rate decreased during the experiment, partly due to a decrease in the cellular phosphorus content. After a single phosphate addition in the medium of one of the reactors, intracellular phosphorus content of the corresponding microalgal culture rapidly increased, and so did the ammonium removal rate. These results show how the amount of phos…

A Superoxovanadium(V) Complex Linking the Peroxide and Dioxygen Chemistry of Vanadium.

2001

A missing link: A superoxovanadium(V) complex is the first reaction intermediate in the oxidative conversion of a peroxovanadium(V) complex into a vanadyl(IV) complex and molecular oxygen. The superoxo species appears also to play an essential role in the formation of the peroxovanadium(V) complex from the vanadyl(IV) complex and molecular oxygen.

Pyrenyl substituted 1,8-naphthalimide as a new material for weak efficiency-roll-off red OLEDs: a theoretical and experimental study

2018

Based on the theoretical calculations of excited states and semiconducting properties, a new 1,8-naphthalimide derivative having an electron-donating 1-pyrenyl group at the C-4 position was designed and synthesized. This derivative exhibited an excellent thermal stability and bipolar charge carrier transport ability. It was successfully utilized as a host in red phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes showing an efficient energy transfer from the host to the phosphorescent emitter. The derivative may be a single material electroplex-forming host for PhOLEDs. The best fabricated red emitting device demonstrated maximum current, power, and external quantum efficiencies of 10.8 cd A−1, 7 …

Disease-linked TDP-43 hyperphosphorylation suppresses TDP-43 condensation and aggregation

2021

AbstractPost-translational modifications (PTMs) have emerged as key modulators of protein phase separation and have been linked to protein aggregation in neurodegenerative disorders. The major aggregating protein in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD), the RNA-binding protein TDP-43, is hyperphosphorylated in disease on several C-terminal serine residues, which is generally believed to promote TDP-43 aggregation. Here, we show that hyperphosphorylation by Casein kinase 1δ or C-terminal phosphomimetic mutations surprisingly reduce TDP-43 phase separation and aggregation and render TDP-43 condensates more liquid-like and dynamic. Multi-scale simulations revea…

TLR3-induced activation of mast cells modulates CD8+ T-cell recruitment.

2005

AbstractMast cells play an important role in host defense against various pathogens, but their role in viral infection has not been clarified in detail. dsRNA, synthesized by various types of viruses and mimicked by polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid (poly(I:C)) is recognized by Toll-like receptor 3 (TLR3). In this study, we demonstrate that poly(I:C) injection in vivo potently stimulates peritoneal mast cells to up-regulate a number of different costimulatory molecules. Therefore, we examined the expression and the functional significance of TLR3 activation in mast cells. Mast cells express TLR3 on the cell surface and intracellularly. After stimulation of mast cells with poly(I:C) and Newcas…
