Design and implementation of electronics and data acquisition system for Ultra-Fast Flash Observatory

The Ultra-Fast Flash Observatory (UFFO) Pathfinder for Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs) consists of two telescopes. The UFFO Burst Alert & Trigger Telescope (UBAT) handles the detection and localization of GRBs, and the Slewing Mirror Telescope (SMT) conducts the measurement of the UV/optical afterglow. UBAT is equipped with an X-ray detector, analog and digital signal readout electronics that detects X-rays from GRBs and determines the location. SMT is equipped with a stepping motor and the associated electronics to rotate the slewing mirror targeting the GRBs identified by UBAT. Heavy Ion Sensitivity of 16/32-Gbit NAND-Flash and 4-Gbit DDR3 SDRAM

16/32-Gbit NAND-Flash and 4-Gbit DDR3 SDRAM memories have been tested under heavy ion irradiation. At high LET, 25nm NAND-Flash show MBUs at normal incidence. Techniques for SEFI mitigation in DDR3 SDRAM are studied.

The arrivals of the new more accuracy reference catalogues and also development of new meth- ods and approaches for reduction astrometric data give the new life for photographic plates archives. Gaia DR2 is not only a giant step in the astrometric accuracy allowing to measure new objects also provides plates archives ob- served in the past with modern accuracy. In this work we present the first results of astrometric reduction in the sys- tem of Gaia DR2 for some photographic plates that were obtained by UK Schmidt telescope (UKST) and digitized by the SuperCOSMOS scanning machine. Superresolved imaging of remote moving targets.

We present a superresolving approach that allows one to exceed the diffraction limit and recover highly resolved contours of moving targets from a sequence of low-resolution images. The presented approach is suitable for remote sensing applications. The resolution decoding algorithm that is used to recover the high-resolution features of the target can be run partially via optical means and that way can be used to reduce the required computational complexity.
Lightfield microscopy, an emerging tool for real-time 3D imaging

Integral, or lightfield, microscopy offers the possibility of capturing and processing in real time multiple views of 3D fluorescent samples captured with a single shot. In this contribution we review the recent advances in lightfield microscopy and enunciate the forthcoming challenges.

1957 – The first laboratory building, known as the White House, was built near Baldone on the Riekstu hill, in the territory of the next Observatory. 01.01.1958 – The Astronomy Sector was separated from the Institute of Physics and commenced independent activi- ty as the Laboratory of Astrophysics at the Latvian Acade- my of Sciences (LAS). In 1967, with the decision of the Presidium of the Latvian SSR LAS the Laboratory of As- trophysics was transformed into the Radioastrophysic Ob- servatory at LAS.
