Quantitative colorimetric analysis of some inorganic salts using digital photography

An analytical imaging approach to the quantitation of dissolved chemical species absorbed in the visible spectral region is reported. The approach uses digital images of a series of standard solutions of the target substance and their processing with appropriate software to assign a numeric value to each standard in terms of color intensity. Such a value is directly proportional to the analyte concentration and allows the construction of a calibration graph. The results thus obtained are compared with those provided by the classical spectrophotometricmethod used to run calibration curves for colored substances. The volume is devoted to images in painting, photography and cinema invented by literature. At the same time it intends to question, through this perspective, the relationship between text and image, between verbal and visual in modern and contemporary literature. The authors investigate the mutual boundaries between literature and arts from the point of view of aesthetics, visual culture and literary theory, trying to build a map of the notional ékphrasis, a description which constitutes the work of art while telling it.

The aim of the paper is to analyze the narrative and photographic thresholds of Leggenda privata by Michele Mari (2017). The first case is a rhetorical artifice, a horror-gothic-fantastic narrative threshold, that Mari creates to distinguish the present of writing from the past of memories, intended, as I will try to demonstrate, to problematize the crucial questions of autobiography: incipit and explicit of the narration, literature and bios, fiction and non-fiction. How to select and weigh features has always been a difficult problem in many image processing and pattern recognition applications. A data-dependent distance measure can address this problem to a certain extent, and therefore an accurate and efficient metric learning becomes necessary.
