Search for a narrowtt¯resonance inpp¯collisions ats=1.96  TeV

2012

We report a search for a narrow ttbar resonance that decays into a lepton+jets final state based on an integrated luminosity of 5.3/fb of proton-antiproton collisions at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV collected by the D0 Collaboration at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We set upper limits on the production cross section of such a resonance multiplied by its branching fraction to ttbar which we compare to predictions for a leptophobic topcolor Z' boson. We exclude such a resonance at the 95% confidence level for masses below 835 GeV.

Discovering and Studying Bileptons with e-e- Collisions

1997

We analyze the prospects for discovering and unraveling the nature of doubly-charged bileptons at a linear collider of the next generation running in its electron-electron colliding mode. We stress the importance of initial state radiation, beam spread and polarization, and compute the discovery bounds. The gauge nature of vector bileptons can be determined by studying hard photon emission.

More on higher order decays of the lighter top squark

1999

We discuss the three-body decays stop_1 -> W^+ b neutralino_1, stop_1 -> H^+ b neutralino_1, stop_1 -> b slepton_i neutrino_l, and stop_1 -> b sneutrino_l l^+$ ($l =e,,$) of the lighter top squark within the minimal supersymmetric standard model. We give the complete analytical formulas for the decay widths and present a numerical study in view of an upgraded Tevatron, the CERN LHC, and a future lepton collider demonstrating the importance of these decay modes.

Recent electroweak results from ATLAS

2016

Recent measurements and searches in the electroweak sector of the Standard Model by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC are reported. The results are based on $20.3\,\rm fb^{-1}$ of proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=8\,\rm TeV$ for $WW$, $WZ$, $ZZ$, $Z\gamma$ and $Z\gamma\gamma$ production as well as on $3.2\,\rm fb^{-1}$ of proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13\,\rm TeV$ for $WZ$ and $ZZ$ production.

A neutrino apparatus with improved capabilities for a short baseline νμ(νe) ↔ ντ search

1995

Abstract We propose the conceptual design of a Neutrino ApparatUS with Improved CApAbilities (NAUSICAA). This detector could be used for a new, short-baseline, high sensitivity νμ(νe) ↔ ντ oscillation search experiment at the CERN-SPS neutrino beam, as well as at the future Fermilab Main Injector neutrino beam. The heart of the detector is a finely instrumented target, made of a sandwich of a light Z material and high resolution tracking detectors. Downstream of the target there are tracking detectors for momentum measurement, followed by a compensating calorimeter. All these systems are contained within magnet providing a magnetic field of about 1 T. Following the magnet there is a muon de…

Search for new phenomena with the monojet and missing transverse momentum signature using the ATLAS detector in s=7TeV proton–proton collisions

2011

A search for new phenomena in events featuring a high energy jet and large missing transverse momentum in proton-proton collisions at root s = 7 TeV is presented using a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 33 pb(-1) recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The number of observed events is consistent with the Standard Model prediction. This result is interpreted in terms of limits on a model of Large Extra Dimensions. (C) 2011 CERN. Status of the g-2 experiment at BNL

1999

The muon g-2 experiment at Brookhaven has successfully completed two exploratory runs using pion injection and direct muon injection for checkout and initial data taking. The main components of the experiment, which include the pion beam line, the superconducting storage ring and inflector magnets, the muon kicker and the lead-scintillating fiber calorimeters have been satisfactorily commissioned. First results on the anomalous magnetic moment of the positive muon from pion injection are in good agreement with previous experimental results for a(mu+) and a(mu-) from CERN and of comparable accuracy (13 ppm). Analysis of the 1998 muon injection run is in progress and expected to improve the p…
