Physics potential of beta/EC beams in regard to CP violation in neutrino oscillations

The goal for future neutrino facilities is the determination of the [Ue3] mixing and CP violation in neutrino oscillations. This will require precision experiments with a very intense neutrino source. With this objective the creation of neutrino beams from the radioactive decay of boosted ions by the SPS of CERN from either beta or electron capture transitions has been propossed. We discuss the capabilities of such facilities as a function of the energy of the boost and the baseline for the detector. The ATLAS experiment is located at the European Centre for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Switzerland. It is designed to measure decay properties of high energetic particles produced in the protons collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The LHC has a proton collision at a frequency of 40 MHz, and thus requires a trigger system to efficiently select events down to a manageable event storage rate of about 400Hz. Event triggering is therefore one of the extraordinary challenges faced by the ATLAS detector. Search for the DecaysB(s)0→e+μ−andB(s)0→e+e−in CDF Run II

We report results from a search for the lepton flavor violating decays $B^0_{(s)}\to e^+\mu^-$, and the flavor-changing neutral-current decays $B^0_{(s)} \to e^+ e^-$. The analysis uses data corresponding to ${\rm 2 fb^{-1}}$ of integrated luminosity of $p \bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.96 {\rm TeV}$ collected with the upgraded Collider Detector (CDF II) at the Fermilab Tevatron. The observed number of $B^0_{(s)}$ candidates is consistent with background expectations. The resulting Bayesian upper limits on the branching ratios at 90% credibility level are $\mathcal{B}(B^0_s \to e^{+}\mu^{-}) 47.8 {\rm TeV/c^2}$, and ${M_{LQ}}(B^0\to e^+ \mu^-) > 59.3 {\rm TeV/c^2}$, at 90% credibility l…
Study of double parton interactions indiphoton+dijetevents inpp¯collisions ats=1.96 TeV

We use a sample of diphoton+dijet events to measure the effective cross section of double parton interactions, which characterizes the area containing the interacting partons in proton-antiproton collisions, and find it to be σeff=19.3±1.4(stat)±7.8(syst) mb. The sample was collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider in $$p\bar{p}$$ collisions at $$\sqrt{s} = 1.96$$ TeV and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 8.7 fb-1.
An upgraded ATLAS central trigger for 2015 luminosities

The Central Trigger Processor (CTP) is a core unit of the first of three levels that constitute the ATLAS trigger system. Based on information from calorimeter and muon trigger processors as well as from some additional systems it produces the level-1 trigger decision and prompts the read-out of the sub-detectors. The increase in luminosity at the LHC has pushed the CTP operation to its design limits. In order to still satisfy the physics goals of the experiment after the shutdown of the LHC of 2013/2014 the CTP will be upgraded during this period. Measurement of theWBoson Production Charge Asymmetry inpp¯→W+X→eν+XEvents ats=1.96 TeV

We present a measurement of the W boson production charge asymmetry in p (p) over bar -> W + X -> ev + X events at a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV, using 9.7 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The neutrino longitudinal momentum is determined by using a neutrino weighting method, and the asymmetry is measured as a function of the W boson rapidity. The measurement extends over wider electron pseudorapidity region than previous results and is the most precise to date, allowing for precise determination of proton parton distribution functions in global fits.
Observation of a NewDsMeson Decaying toDKat a Mass of2.86 GeV/c2

We observe a new D_s meson with mass (2856.6 +/- 1.5_{stat.} +/- 5.0_{syst.}) MeV/c^2 and width (48 +/- 7_{stat.} +/- 10_{syst.}) MeV decaying into D^0 K^+ and D^+K^0_S. In the same mass distributions we also observe a broad structure with mass (2688 +/- 4_{stat.} +/- 3_{syst.}) MeV/c^2 and width (112 +/- 7_{stat.} +/- 36_{syst.}) MeV. To obtain this result we use 240 fb^-1 of data recorded by the BaBar detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e^+e^- storage rings at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center running at center-of-mass energies near 10.6 GeV.
Observation of theBcMeson in the Exclusive DecayBc→J/ψπ

A fully reconstructed B-c -> J/psi pi signal is observed with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron p (p) over bar collider using 1.3 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity. The signal consists of 54 +/- 12 candidates with a significance that exceeds 5 standard deviations, and confirms earlier observations of this decay. The measured mass of the B-c meson is 6300 +/- 14(stat)+/- 5(syst) MeV/c(2).
Search for Large Extra Dimensions in theMonojet+E̸TChannel with the DØ Detector

We present a search for large extra dimensions (ED) in p (p) over bar collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.8 TeV using data collected by the DO detector at the Fermilab Tevatron in 1994-1996. Data corresponding to 78.8+/-3.9 pb(-1) are examined for events with large missing transverse energy, one high-p(T) jet, and no isolated muons. There is no excess observed beyond expectation from the standard model, and we place lower limits on the fundamental Planck scale of 1.0 and 0.6 TeV for 2 and 7 ED, respectively.
