Darbā analizēta drošības faktoru ietekme uz Armēnijas lēmumu pievienoties Muitas savienībai. Darba mērķis ir noskaidrot, vai Armēnijas lēmums ir saistīts ar tās sarežģīto ģeopolitisko situāciju, vai arī šim lēmumam ir ekonomisks pamatojums. Galvenie darba uzdevumi ir: 1) izvērtēt Armēnijas, Azerbaidžānas un Krievijas varas potenciālu. 2) Analizēt Azerbaidžānas radīto apdraudējumu Armēnijai. 3) Novērtēt Armēnijas attiecības ar tuvākajiem kaimiņiem, ES un Krieviju. 4) Izvērtēt Armēnijas pievienošanās Muitas savienībai ekonomisko pamatotību. Darba teorētisko pieeju veido „pievienošanās stiprākajam” koncepts. Darbā izmantotas gan kvalitatīvās, gan kvantitatīvās pētījumu metodes. Darba rezultāti…

A Red Eye Colour Mutation in Culex pipiens after X-irradiation

FOUR 1–2-day-old males of Culex pipiens were irradiated with a dose of 4,000 r. The mutant ‘red eye’ (r) was isolated from F3 cultures of two of the irradiated males (♂ II and ♂ IV). From male II, there were three red-eyed females which arose out of a single F2 brother–sister mating; from male IV, 80 red-eyed females and one red-eyed male from 14 F2 brother–sister matings. According to the experimental procedure, this means that at least one sperm from male II and at least fourteen sperms from male IV carried the mutation r. Mechanisms for converting electrical energy into mechanical energy are essential for the design of nanoscale transducers, sensors, actuators, motors, pumps, artificial muscles, and medical microrobots. Nanometre-scale actuation has to date been mainly achieved by using the (linear) piezoelectric effect in certain classes of crystals (for example, quartz), and 'smart' ceramics such as lead zirconate titanate. Culex pipiens fatigans is the chief vector of filariasis in south-east Asia. Urbanization has often caused the numbers of this mosquito—and with it the danger of filariasis infection—to increase alarmingly1. The natural vigour, tolerance and fast development of resistance to insecticides of this mosquito necessitate the development of other control methods, and cytoplasmic incompatibility2 seems to be an ideal means.
International validation of the revised European Organisation for Research and treatment of cancer head and neck cancer module, the EORTC QLQ-HN43

Background: We validated the new European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Head and Neck Module (EORTC QLQ-HN43). Methods: We enrolled 812 patients with head and neck cancer from 18 countries. Group 1 completed the questionnaire before therapy, and 3 and 6 months later. In group 2 (survivors), we determined test–retest reliability using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC). Internal consistency was assessed using Cronbach's Alpha, the scale structure with confirmatory factor analysis, and discriminant validity with known-group comparisons. Seria certament difícil pensar avui la història de la música occidental de la segona meitat del segle xx sense la figura de Pierre Boulez.
