La ricerca si incentra sulla committenza artistica e in particolare sulle iniziative architettoniche promosse da una famiglia dell'alta aristocrazia feudale in Sicilia, i Barresi di Piatraperzia, un centro ubicato nell’entroterra dell’isola, attualmente in provincia di Enna. Maestri e cantieri nella Sicilia interna tra XV e XVI secolo: le chiese Madri di Pietraperzia e Assoro

The essay focuses on two yards of the interior of Sicily between the end of the fifteenth century and the first half of the sixteenth century: the mother church of Pietraperzia and that of Assoro. New documentary investigations allowed to set out the master builders involved in the construction process and to deduce some construction methods in use for churches basilica. These data, together with the direct observation of the buildings have allowed to hypothesize, in both cases, the original configuration of the churches. Le absidi delle chiese Madri di Assoro e Pietraperzia (XV-XVI secolo)

This contribution focuses on two case studies dating from the 15th and 16th centuries: the apse of the mother church of Assoro and the mother church of Pietrap- erzia, both in the province of Enna, for which it is pos- sible to identify common constructive characteristics and a close relationship including in terms of the clients involved. The study examines historical aspects and those of a geometric and construction nature, taking also into ac- count the lasting influence of the apse.
