In questo lavoro, la tecnica di Imaging a Risonanza magnetica Nucleare (MRI) è stata impiegata per studiare in modo quantitativo, non invasivo, non distruttivo, la cinetica di assorbimento capillare di acqua in campioni di Pietra di Lecce, una biocalcarenite omogenea nella quale il fronte di bagnamento avanza pressoché piatto. MRI permette di misurare in funzione del tempo l’altezza raggiunta dal fronte in qualunque sezione interna del campione. A water-in-oil (w/o) microemulsion (ME) constituted by 15% Tris buffer, pH 8.4, in water and 85% sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS)/n-pentanol 1:4 mixture, capable of dissolving up to 30% vegetable oils and lard, was used as background electrolyte in reverse microemulsion electrokinetic capillary chromatography (RMEEKC). Determination of kinetic parameters of redox reactions using CE‐ICP‐MS: A case study for the reduction of Np(V) by hydroxylamine hydrochloride

The rate constants k of the reduction of 5 × 10-5  M Np(V) to Np(IV) by hydroxylamine hydrochloride (HAHCl) in 1 M HCl have been determined by CE-ICP-MS in the temperature range of ϑ = 30-70°C and with varying concentrations of HAHCl from 1 to 7.2 M. The reaction was found to have (pseudo)first order kinetics with respect to HAHCl. The experimental results for k ranged from 0.0029(1) min-1 (ϑ = 40°C, c(HAHCl) = 3 M) to 0.039(7) min-1 (ϑ = 60°C, c(HAHCl) = 7.2 M). The activation energy of the reaction was determined as EA  = (72 ± 10) kJ/mol. Several pharmacokinetic processes are affected by enantioselectivity (ES). At the level of distribution, protein binding (PB) is one of the most important. The enantioselective binding of fluoxetine (FLX) to HSA has been evaluated in this work by ultrafiltration of FLX–HSA mixtures and chiral analysis of unbound fractions by EKC-CD. Reorganization of Nuclear Domain 10 Induced by Papillomavirus Capsid Protein L2

AbstractNuclear domains (ND) 10 are associated with proteins implicated in transcriptional regulation, growth suppression, and apoptosis. We now show that the minor capsid protein L2 of human papillomavirus (HPV) type 33 induces a reorganization of ND10-associated proteins. Whereas the promyelocytic leukemia protein, the major structural component of ND10, was unaffected by L2, Sp100 was released from ND10 upon L2 expression. The total cellular amount of Sp100, but not of Sp100 mRNA, decreased significantly, suggesting degradation of Sp100. Early prediction of coma recovery after cardiac arrest with blinded pupillometry

Objectives Prognostication studies on comatose cardiac arrest (CA) patients are limited by lack of blinding, potentially causing overestimation of outcome predictors and self-fulfilling prophecy.
