The past and future of evolutionary economics: some reflections based on new bibliometric evidence

The modern wave of ‘evolutionary economics’ was launched in 1982 with the classic study by Nelson and Winter. This paper reports a broad bibliometric analysis of ‘evolutionary’ research in the disciplines of management, business, economics, and sociology over 25 years from 1986 to 2010. It confirms that Nelson and Winter's book (An evolutionary theory of economic change, Harvard University Press, Cambridge, MA, 1982) is an enduring nodal reference point for this broad field. This chapter is dedicated to the twentieth century, where pedagogy underwent a profound transformation becoming a science capable of critically reflecting on education and taking on the characteristics of a specific, complex and more articulated knowledge. Thanks to this brief history of contemporary pedagogical epistemology, it is explained why pedagogy needed to create new paradigms of scientific research.

El término externismo (externalism) fue utilizado por primera vez por D.W. Armstrong (v. Armstrong, 1973). The genetic mechanism of fallness: St. Maximos the Confessor revisited

Through a close reading of the two definitions of evil in the Introduction to Responses to Thalassios , this article points out a circular, cognitive-affective-somatic, genetic mechanism that St. Maximos the Confessor considers responsible for the initiation and transmission of the fallness as a human condition and the specific manifestation of it in the form of passions. It elucidates the first definition as mainly phenomenological, by identifying the circular mechanism and its behavioural expressions, and the second definition as more aetiological, by explaining why this mechanism emerges and reemerges with the fallen humanity despite its catastrophic results.
