Influence of hydrogen bonding on the viscoelastic properties of thermoreversible networks: analysis of the local complex dynamics

Abstract The viscoelastic properties of thermoreversible polybutadiene networks in which junctions are formed by binary contacts between polar stickers (phenylurazole) are investigated by a dynamic mechanical spectroscopy within the frequency range 0.0079–79.5 Hz (0.05–500 rads−1). Time-temperature superposition is applicable in the terminal flow region and the glass transition regime, whereas thermorheologically complex behaviour is observed within the rubbery plateau region. For the terminal relaxation zone the polar stickers enhance the relaxation time and broaden the relaxation time spectrum. The interaction of plane tension/compression waves propagating within a plate perpendicularly to its surface is considered. The analytic solution is obtained by a modified method of characteristics for the one-dimensional wave equation used in problems on an impact of a rigid body on the surface of a plate. The displacements, velocities, and stresses in the plate are determined by the edge disturbance caused by the initial velocity and the stationary force field of masses of the striker and the plate. 2-Aminobutylamino-4-ethylamino-6-isopropylamino-1,3,5-triazine (ABA-atrazine) has been synthesized and used as a coating hapten in an immunoassay with a monoclonal antibody against terbutryn. Coating was achieved by covalently linking ABA-atrazine to a glutaraldehyde polymer network directly bound to the polystyrene surface of a standard 96-well microtiter plate. The assay was carefully optimized. In particular, the coating hapten concentration had a strong effect on the ELISA sensitivity. By including a pre-incubation step a low test midpoint (IC50-value) of 0.130 microg L(-1) was achieved. As far as we are aware this is the most sensitive ELISA for terbutryn yet reported. Abstract In the framework of displacement-based equivalent single layer (ESL) plate theories for laminates, this paper presents a generic and automatic method to extend a basis higher-order shear deformation theory (polynomial, trigonometric, hyperbolic…) to a multilayer C z 0 higher-order shear deformation theory. The key idea is to enhance the description of the cross-sectional warping: the odd high-order C z 1 function of the basis model is replaced by one odd and one even high-order function and including the characteristic zig-zag behaviour by means of piecewise linear functions. We study the Plateau problem restricted to polynomial surfaces using techniques coming from the theory of Computer Aided Geometric Design. The results can be used to obtain polynomial approximations to minimal surfaces. The relationship between harmonic Bezier surfaces and minimal surfaces with free boundaries is shown.

Objective: The goal of this study was to determine the genetic variability of the fimA gene in Porphyromonas gingivalis isolates from Spanish patients. Study Design: Pooled subgingival samples were taken, processed and cultured in non-selective blood agar medium. Pure cultures of one to six isolates per patient were obtained and PCR and PCR-RFLP were used for fimbrillin gene (fimA) type determination of the extracted genomic (DNA).
