Refined layer-wise models for nonlocal analysis of magneto-electro-elastic plates
Size-dependent theories of continuum mechanics are an important tool for structural and material modeling in engineering applications, with particular regard to those involving micro- and nano-scales. Among various approaches proposed in the literature to account for the effect of the microstructure via continuum models, the Eringen’s nonlocal elasticity model incorporates important features of material behavior via a differential stress-strain relationship involving a scale coefficient, or characteristic length, depending on the material microstructure [1]. In the framework of Eringen’s nonlocal elasticity, plate theories have been reformulated for homogeneous and multilayered configuratio…

Oxidative stress, oxidative stress-based diseases and Mediterranean diet. Raman spectroscopy monitoring of skin carotenoids in healthy individuals an…
Abstract Evaluating the level of body antioxidants may reveal a more or less severe oxidative stress condition in either healthy people or subjects with pathologies, and can be suggestive for suitable dietary interventions to possibly affect it. In this work taking advantage from the Raman spectroscopic technology to measure the level of skin carotenoids in a simple and non-invasive manner, healthy people (age 15 to 70, n=155) and women who had surgery for breast cancer (BC) (age 38 to 76, n=71) have been screened to assess to what extent an increased intake of fruit and vegetables (healthy people and patients), associated with diets based on a classical Mediterranean style and that did not…

On static instability and estimates for critical velocities of axially moving orthotropic plates under inhomogeneous tension
2012
In this study, models for axially moving orthotropic plates are investigated analytically. Linearised Kirchhoff plate theory is used, and the energy forms of steady-state models are considered. With the help of the energy forms,ho- mogeneous and inhomogeneous tension profiles, some limits for the critical web velocity are found analytically. A numerical example is given about effects of the shear moduls in the case of an inhomogenous tenstion profile. nonPeerReviewed
Iron Age craftworks in the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula. An approach based in Cultural Inheritance Theory
2021
Peri-Implant Distal Radius Fracture: Proposal of a New Classification
2022
A peri-implant fracture near the volar plate of the distal radius represents a rarity and can be associated with a mechanical failure of the devices. A literature review was conducted including all fractures that occurred around a volar wrist plate, which could be associated with an ulna fracture. All articles published until December 2021 were considered according to the guidelines presented in the PRISMA Statement. The search was conducted with the PubMed electronic database, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Medline, Embase, and Google Scholar. Only nine cases of these fractures were reported in the literature. The causes could be due to delayed union/non-union of the old fracture…
Semiconductors: Growth and Characterization
2018
Semiconducting materials are widely used in several applications such as photonics, photovoltaics, electronics and thermoelectrics, because of their optical and electro-optical features. The fundamental and technological importance of these materials is due to the unique physical and chemical properties. Over the years, numerous methods have been developed for the synthesis of high efficient semiconductors. Besides, a variety of approach and characterization methods have been used to study the numerous and fascinating properties of the semiconducting materials. This book collects new developments about semiconductors, from the fundamental issues to the synthesis and applications. Special at…

Plate-forme contre canal : quel cadre théorique pour analyser la distribution ?
2019
Traditional retailers are facing the competition of new actors born in the internet world. Whereas those physical retailers try to expand online, the virtual operators recognize the need to develop a physical presence in the marketplace. Models of marketing channels are used to implement distribution strategies in physical stores, and the concept of multisided platform is now classically referred to for internet operations. How can those diverging theoretical frames be combined to help managers in their strategic decisions ?
