Narrating ambivalence of maternal responsibility

Early motherhood and caring for the infant involve a moral ambiguity that is related to the questions of responsibility and vulnerability. By means of the ethics of care, motherhood can be understood as belonging to the moral domain, as relational, and as linked with everyday social situations. The culturally dominant narratives of ‘good mothering’ easily naturalise and normatise maternal agency. This study illustrates the process of adopting responsibility for the infant and the moral ambivalence that is inscribed in early maternal care. Constance Reid’s recent tribute to K. O. Friedrichs (Reid 1983) undoubtedly brought back fond memories to those who knew the man and his many achievements (see also Reid 1986). It was a great pleasure for me to interview Friedrichs in January 1982, only about a year before his death. He was already in very delicate health. His wife Nellie (see Biegel 2012) was kind enough to arrange the interview, but warned me beforehand that her husband tired rather easily and was somewhat hard of hearing. The theme park experience: An analysis of pleasure, arousal and satisfaction

Abstract This article analyses how visitor emotions in a theme park environment influence satisfaction and behavioural intentions. Emotions consist of two independent dimensions, i.e. pleasure and arousal. Two competing models were tested. The first model is derived from the environmental psychology research stream as developed by (An Approach to Environmental Psychology, MIT Press, Cambridge, 1974), where the visitor's arousal generates pleasure and, in turn, approach/avoidance behaviour. Impact of Engineer Personality on Sustainable Environment

Engineers are the ones who design the anthropic space and apply the principles of sustainable development. The way they feel and see reality is projected on their work and finished products. The purpose of this research is to identify sensory stimuli that produce pleasure and comfort in the socio-professional category of engineers. The questionnaire survey revealed that engineers prefer materials that promote a sustainable economy, as well as the organization of the anthropological environment by the model of nature, practicing in the unconscious psyche a mimicry of the natural environment.

Listeners attribute a positive or negative value to music. This aesthetic experience is known to be observable over the individuals’ entire life span, from early childhood to old age, and in every culture. It is then often concluded that such an aesthetic experience constitutes part of the human nature, having an important biological foundation. This assumption leads to the question of how aesthetic experience of music originated in the biological evolution. In order to explore the favourite meal of the elderly, a large survey was conducted including 559 people older than 65 (AUPALESENS survey). Different categories of elderly were interviewed, including people who are living at home either without any assistance or with assistance, and people who are living in a nursing home.Each respondent completed a questionnaire designed to explore three dimensions, namely meal content, eater style and pickiness. However, learning to eat has to occur quickly, because the mode of feeding evolves dramatically during the first years of life, from tube feeding to family foods, through milk and complementary feeding. How to facilitate the acceptance of fruits and vegetables in children: early feeding strategies

Despite recommendations throughout Europe to increase children's consumption of fruit and vegetables (FV), they remain below recommendations in many countries. For instance, in France, the National Program on Nutrition and Health recommends consuming five 80-gram portions of fruit and vegetables per day, but the consumption observed in three- to 10-year-old children in 2007 only reached 74 g for fruit and 67 g for vegetables. Thus, it is crucial to establish preferences for FV early, when children are learning to eat.
