Słowo Boże w liturgii eucharystycznej Kościołów syryjskich

2017

In all liturgical families, including the Syriac ones, the proclamation of the Word of God is an essential element of liturgical celebration. Although in the numerous communities sharing the same tradition of Antioch, Edessa and Nisibis the practice of reading from the Bible during the liturgy looks different there are some common elements. They include: a great respect for the Bible (the book seen as a monstrance), the readings taking place during the Liturgy of Catechumens; the division of readings from both the Old and New Testament into the psalmodic chants, the practice of reading the Gospel which is reserved strictly for the priest, the presence of the biblical poetry during the whole…

2019

Not only is translation of poetry an effective method of teaching poerty in a proper historical context, but also it enhances students acquisition of knowledge about realities of life in foreign countries and different cultures, not to mention the fact that it improves their linguistic competences in both the source and the target languages. What is important, translation is a holistic method, forcing students to think independently.

Prophecy and Apocalypse among the Oromo-Borana: The Power of Chiasmus

2018

This chapter bridges the rhetoric culture and anticipation theoretical domains for reinterpreting the prophetic and apocalyptic texts on the Oromo-Borana (Ethiopia). The analysis qualifies prophecy as a practice of anticipation, a rational and collective exercise of criticism to current social trends, facilitated by creative individuals that make full use of the cognitive potential of chiasmus and other rhetorical devises.

Ode laica per Chibok e Leah

2019

The volume contains two short poems by Nigerian Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka ("No, He Said!", dedicated to Nelson Mandela, from the Author's 1988 classic collection "Mandela's Earth and Other Poems", and the recent "Mandela Comes to Leah", written purposely for this volume), along with the most recent long poem in five parts "A Humanist Ode to Chibok, Leah", published in English for the first time in 2019. The poem, and indeed the entire volume, denounces all forms of fundamentalism and fanaticism as opposed to secular humanism. Soyinka pays tribute to the girls abducted in Chibok and 15 year-old Leah Sharibu, one of the 108 girls abducted from Dapchi in 2018, comparing her firm refusal to r…

Res utrique placuit (CB 72, str. 5a, 1).

Baudelaire's Influence on Duo Duo's Poetry through Chen Jingrong, a Chinese Woman Poet Translating from French.

2012

As a woman poet, Chen Jingrong’s productions encompassed the whole 20th century: of particular interest are her poetry translations from the French language. Thanks to her translation work, valuable understanding of Charles Baudelaire’s poetry was made available in China, which influenced the Chinese contemporary poet, Duo Duo, when he first started writing poetry during his youth. This paper tries to depict the importance of this contribution of Chen Jingrong and its effect on the process of renovation of the contemporary poetic scene in China.
