Bis (μ-tetrazolato-NN′) bridged dinuclear nickel(II) Schiff base complexes: Tandem synthesis, structure and self assembly
2015
Abstract Two new bis(μ-tetrazolato-NN′) bridged dinuclear nickel(II) Schiff base complexes [Ni2L12(PTZ)2]·2(CH3)2SO·2.69H2O (1) and 2[Ni2L22(PTZ)2]·3H2O (2) (HL1 and HL2 are Schiff bases, HL1 = 2-((2-(dimethylamino)ethylimino)methyl)phenol, HL2 = 2-((2-(methylamino)ethylimino)methyl)-6-methoxyphenol and HPTZ is 5-pyrazinyltetrazole) have been synthesized via [3+2] cyclo-addition of 2-cyanopyrazine and sodium azide in presence of nickel(II) acetate tetrahydrate and the respective Schiff bases. The structures of the complexes are confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Both complexes show fluorescence. The change in the denticity of the Schiff base blocking ligand is shown to …
'Love comes first, and it is ahead of any different political partisanism': How political polarizations compare to other forms of discrimination in B…
2021
Background: Affective polarization and stigma toward individuals with schizophrenia and toward immigrants in Argentina are not new despite its importance and dissemination. However, no research has been conducted taking into consideration political partisanship and attitudes toward these groups. Aims: Political polarization and attitudes toward socialization across party lines are studied in conjunction with attitudes toward immigrants and toward individuals with schizophrenia. Method: Individuals from Buenos Aires ( n = 712) were surveyed for their political partisanship and their attitudes toward Peruvian and Bolivian immigrants, people with schizophrenia and partisans from the opposing p…

Tunable Polarons in Bose-Einstein Condensates
2017
A toolbox for the quantum simulation of polarons in ultracold atoms is presented. Motivated by the impressive experimental advances in the area of ultracold atomic mixtures, we theoretically study the problem of ultracold atomic impurities immersed in a Bose-Einstein condensate mixture (BEC). The coupling between impurity and BEC gives rise to the formation of polarons whose mutual interaction can be effectively tuned using an external laser driving a quasi-resonant Raman transition between the BEC components. Our scheme allows one to change the effective interactions between polarons in different sites from attractive to zero. This is achieved by simply changing the intensity and the frequ…
IRSp53 controls plasma membrane shape and polarized transport at the nascent lumen in epithelial tubules.
2020
It is unclear whether the establishment of apical–basal cell polarity during the generation of epithelial lumens requires molecules acting at the plasma membrane/actin interface. Here, we show that the I-BAR-containing IRSp53 protein controls lumen formation and the positioning of the polarity determinants aPKC and podocalyxin. Molecularly, IRSp53 acts by regulating the localization and activity of the small GTPase RAB35, and by interacting with the actin capping protein EPS8. Using correlative light and electron microscopy, we further show that IRSp53 ensures the shape and continuity of the opposing plasma membrane of two daughter cells, leading to the formation of a single apical lumen. G…
Localization of HSP70, Cdc2, and cyclin B in sea urchin oocytes in non-stressed conditions.
2003
In Paracentrotus lividus embryos, a Mediterranean sea urchin species, HSP70 is present in all the cells. During cell division it localizes under normal growth conditions on the centrosomes and on the whole isolated mitotic apparatus. Now, in situ hybridization, Western blot analyses, and immunohistochemistry show that the HSP70 mRNA is present in both small and large P. lividus oocytes, that all four isoforms of HSP70 can be found also in the oocytes, and that a certain amount of HSP70 localizes on asters and spindles during polar body formation. Moreover, two representative cell-cycle related proteins, cyclin B, and Cdc2, are present both in small and large oocytes, concentrating in the ge…
Tomita—Takesaki Theory in Partial O*-Algebras
2002
This chapter is devoted to the development of the Tomita-Takesaki theory in partial O*-algebras. In Section 5.1, we introduce and investigate the notion of cyclic generalized vectors for a partial O*-algebra, generalizing that of cyclic vectors, and its commutants. Section 5.2 introduces the notion of a cyclic and separating system (M, λ, λ c ), which consists of a partial O*-algebra M, a cyclic generalized vector λ for M and the commutant λ c of λ. A cyclic and separating system (M, λ, λ c ) determines the cyclic and separating system ((M w ′ )′, λ cc , (λ cc ) c ) of the von Neumann algebra (M w ′ )′, and this makes it possible to develop the Tornita-Takesaki theory. Then λ can be extende…
The INGV's new OBS/H: Analysis of the signals recorded at the Marsili submarine volcano
2009
Abstract The ocean bottom seismometer with hydrophone deployed on the flat top of the Marsili submarine volcano (790 m deep) by the Gibilmanna OBS Lab (CNT–INGV) from 12th to 21st July, 2006, recorded more than 1000 transient seismic signals. Nineteen of these signals were associated with tectonic earthquakes: 1 teleseismic, 8 regional (located by INGV) and 10 small local seismic events (non located earthquakes). The regional events were used to determine sensor orientation. By comparing the signals recorded with typical volcanic seismic activity, we were able to group all the other signals into three categories: 817 volcano–tectonic type B (VT-B) events, 159 occurrences of high frequency t…
Development of the insight scale for affective disorders (ISAD): modification from the scale to assess unawareness of mental disorder.
2011
Abstract Background Research on insight in patients with mood disorders has grown in recent years. Several instruments to assess insight have been used, but most of them have been specifically designed for psychosis and may not appear relevant to mood disorders. The aim of the present study is to develop a short, multidimensional, reliable and valid scale to measure insight in patients with mood disorders, based on the Amador's Scale to Assess Unawareness of Mental Disorders (SUMD). Method A Delphi method was used to facilitate expert participation and ensure face and content validity. The SUMD structure and items were used as a reference in the scale development. A new scale with 17 items …
