Determination of Cd, Cu, Pb and Zn content of infant formulas by differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV).
1994
The differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV) method described is based on the one reported by Hasse et al., but adapted to normal laboratory conditions. The values obtained in the estimation of the analytical parameters (linearity, detection and quantification limits, precision and accuracy) show that in the conditions described the method is sensitive enough, reliable and useful for determining these elements in infant formulas. A comparison between DPASV and atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) methods in the conditions described here shows that the former is less sensitive but that they are similar in precision. The cadmium, copper, lead and zinc contents of different type…
Tumor hypoxia in pelvic recurrences of cervical cancer.
1998
We have previously demonstrated in primary cancer of the uterine cervix that tumor hypoxia, as determined polarographically, is strongly associated with clinical malignant progression of the disease. Having applied a similar methodological approach to investigate loco-regional relapses, we found a pronounced shift to more hypoxic oxygenation profiles in the recurrent tumors than in the primary tumors. Median pO2 values in 53 pelvic recurrences were significantly lower than the median pO2 values of 117 primary tumors of comparable sizes (7.1 +/- 1.1 mmHg vs. 12.1 +/- 1.0 mmHg, p = 0.0013). The differences in tumor oxygenation between primary and recurrent tumors mirrored the differences in t…

Voltammetric behavior of berenil.
1993
Abstract Berenil is reduced on mercury drops electrode in buffered aqueous media. The reduction of —N=N— group is controlled by diffusion. Polarographie waves are of analytical usefulness. The hydrogen discharge is favored by the basic centers of the molecule in Co(ll)/ammonia-buffered media.
Study on the determination of trace rhenium (VII) by the adsorption differential pulse polarography
1989
The determination of trace rhenium (VII) by differential pulse polarography in the system of H2SO4-(NHsOH)2 · H2SO4-TeO2−4 is markedly improved by the addition of Nitron, which is adsorbed on the surface of mercury electrode. The limit of detection is down to 2 × 1010 M. The adsorptive peak potential is −0.80 V (vs. SCE). In the ranges of 5 × 1010—10−8, 1 × 10−5—10−7 and 1 × 10−7—10−6M, there are good linear relationships between the peak current increment and the concentration, of which the relative standard deviations are 9.5, 6.6, 1.8% respectively with the correlation coefficients of linear regression of 0.995–0.999. The results relating to this polarographic wave show that it is an ads…
Determination of ascorbic acid in asparagus by differential pulse polarography
1995
A useful method for the determination of ascorbic acid in a vegetable product (asparagus) by differential pulse polarography has been set up and evaluated. Extraction and instrumental conditions were optimized. The analytical parameters are: linearity (0–18.18 μg/ml); detection limit (0.182 μg/ml); instrumental and method precision (2.77% and 4%, respectively); accuracy (96.9–113.4%). These data show that the method is sufficiently sensitive, reliable and accurate. It was also compared with the official fluorometric AOAC method.
Multi frequency phase fluorimetry (MFPF) for oxygen partial pressure measurement: ex vivo validation by polarographic clark-type electrode.
2013
BACKGROUND: Measurement of partial pressure of oxygen (PO2) at high temporal resolution remains a technological challenge. This study introduces a novel PO2 sensing technology based on Multi-Frequency Phase Fluorimetry (MFPF). The aim was to validate MFPF against polarographic Clark-type electrode (CTE) PO2 measurements. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS: MFPF technology was first investigated in N = 8 anaesthetised pigs at FIO2 of 0.21, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1.0. At each FIO2 level, blood samples were withdrawn and PO2 was measured in vitro with MFPF using two FOXY-AL300 probes immediately followed by CTE measurement. Secondly, MFPF-PO2 readings were compared to CTE in an artificial circulatory s…

Para-Localization Energy (Free-Electron Molecular-Orbital Method) and Polarographic Half-Wave Potentials of some Polynuclear Hydrocarbons
1957
POLYNUCLEAR aromatic hydrocarbons in 75 per cent dioxane solution which contains 0.175 M tetrabutyl ammonium iodide are reducible in the dropping mercury electrode1. As shown by the corresponding polarograms, it is a two-electron addition step process, and it is similar to the reduction of these compounds by alkali metals or their amalgams and alcohol2, a fact which can be easily explained.
Evaluation of two oxygen analyzers by computerized data acquisition and processing
1986
Monitoring of inspired oxygen concentration during anesthesia with nitrous oxide is becoming accepted as essential. This type of monitoring demands accurate monitors that respond rapidly. We evaluated two such devices for their response patterns to rapid changes in oxygen concentration, a galvanic or "fuel cell" unit and a polarographic device. Data were stored after analog-to-digital conversion. The response patterns to stepwise changes in nitrous oxide and oxygen mixtures were recorded at flow rates ranging from 2 to 10 L/min. Both units responded accurately to all changes in the absolute oxygen concentration; the polarographic unit was, on average, twice as fast. Responsiveness to nitrou…
