"Ein deutsches Tagebuch" Stefana Chwina
2017
The main themes of this article are connected with reading the prose of Stefan Chwin: Kartki z dziennika [Pages of a diary] (2004) and Dziennik dla dorosłych [A diary for adults] (2008), which selected and translated by Marta Kijowska came out in Berlin, under the title: Ein deutsches Tagebuch. The weekly Die Zeit placed it on the list of the ten best books of 2015. In the context of this distinction, reading Chwin’s diaries becomes a unique putting values to test, a discovery of the significance of the author’s voice in discussions about the condition of modem world and contemporary human being. This is so because a close reading of Chwin’s diaries allows us not only to cognitively go thro…
Language in Central Europe: An Overview
2009
The linguistic picture of Central Europe, as we know it, started forming in the 6th to 9th centuries. The coming of the Slavs (or rather the spread of their language and way of life to unrelated various ethnic groups) marks the beginning of this caesura that largely closed in 896 AD when the Magyars crossed the Carpathians into Pannonia. This event gradually divided the hypothetically continuous area of Slavic settlement into a southern section, extending from contemporary Slovenia to Bulgaria, and into a northern section, which coincided with the areas from the Elbe in today’s eastern Germany to the upper Volga in northeastern Russia. In the west, the Magyar-speakers skirted the East and …

Kwestia niemiecka w publicystyce emigracyjnej Ligi Niepodległości Polski po II wojnie światowej
2019
The Polish Independence League (PIL) was a political representation of Piłsudski’s followers in exile. The article presents the position of the PIL regarding the German issue after World War II. Michał Grażyński was the most outstanding expert on German issues in the ranks of Piłsudski’s followers. Before World War II, he was a long-term voivode of Silesia and a well-known politician, publicist and the president of the PIL in exile. Piłsudski’s followers repeatedly demanded that Western governments recognise the border on the Odra and Nysa Łużycka Rivers. They advocated that the western territories belong to Poland by referring to security considerations and using economic and historical ar…

2020
The article discusses didactic approaches to teaching grammar that have been developed in Polish language didactics since the end of the 18th century: grammatical-normative, system-grammatical and functional. Subsequent approaches are presented in the historical order, but the considerations focus on their main theoretical assumptions, areas of criticism of previous approaches and methodological solutions developed on these foundations. The approach adopted has been defined as the overriding principle of understanding the learning process.
Pielgrzymka Ślązaków do Rzymu i Viterbo w 1967 r. Na drodze polsko-niemieckiego pojednania
2018
