INTRODUCTION/OBJECTIVES: Current recommendations on post-polypectomy surveillance recommend shorter intervals in case of 3 or more polyps, irrespectively of histological findings (see reference below). These recommendations doesn't differentiate between diminutive (1-5 mm) polyps and polyps of larger size (>5 mm). INTRODUCTION/OBJECTIVES: Several reports have assessed clinical significance of diminutive (1-5 mm) polyps; here we report on the prevalence of advanced histology in patient with "isolated" diminutive polyps, i.e. without associated polyps of larger size. AIMS & METHODS: Retrospective examination of endoscopy records and of histopathology records of patients with polyps of any size. BACKGROUND AND AIM: The Authors report the results of their experience on polypoids lesions of the stomach and on endoscopic polypectomies. PATIENTS AND METHODS: A study on 2000 OGD (oesophagogastroduodenoscopy) has been carried out on 95 patients with polypoid lesions. The authors have analysed the associations existing between histological type and symptomatology and localisation of the lesion and the status of the Helicobacter pylori and the risk of cancerization. The data were confronted with the ones already available. Background: Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) affects around 60% of patients with severe eosinophilic asthma (SEA). Benralizumab was recently approved for SEA add-on treatment. Objective: To assess the real-world effectiveness of benralizumab in SEA with or without CRSwNP. Methods: We conducted a multicenter observational study, including patients with SEA treated with benralizumab for 24 weeks in 12 Italian specialized facilities. Mucin 1 downregulation associates with corticosteroid resistance in chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps

Background A number of patients with chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) are resistant to oral corticosteroids. Mucin 1 (MUC1) shows anti-inflammatory properties, and its cytoplasmic tail (CT) interacts with transcription factors, facilitating their nuclear translocation. Because glucocorticoid receptor (GR) nuclear translocation is key to the anti-inflammatory effect of corticosteroids, we hypothesized that MUC1 is involved in the effectiveness of corticosteroids. Endoluminal ultrasonic examination of sessile polyps and early carcinomas of the rectum

The results of conventional endosonographic techniques in the assessment of early carcinomas and sessile polyps of the rectum have been unsatisfactory. We therefore developed a new technique in which the rectal cavity is filled directly with water. Using this technique, the anatomy of small rectal tumors is preserved and the layers of the rectal wall are easier to differentiate, especially with a 10-MHz scanner. The clinical results in 66 patients demonstrate that this new technique is very accurate in the preoperative staging of adenomas and T1-carcinomas of the rectum.
