The article is a synthetic essay that exposes the main theoretical lines of the postmarxist approach of Laclau and Mouffe, on the one hand, and the autonomist post-operaism of Negri, Hardt, Virno, etc., on the other hand. These theories are conceived as attempts to rationalize current political bets by various political sectors and social movements. It analyzes both argumentative strategies from «orthodox» Marxism and the structure / superstructure relationship; and the forms of constitution of new subjectivities. AbstractThis introductory chapter contextualizes how the volume resonates to current global trends and research debates concerning democracy, civil society, and civic space. The chapter shows how the debates on the decline of democracy, civil society actors, and changing civil spaces underpin the book’s agenda of exploring civil society responses to civic space. The chapter argues in favour of contextual and relational analyses of how civil society actors and civic space are negotiated, in the context of historically formed governance systems. It also provides an overview of the chapters of the book underlying their original contributions to ongoing debates.

Šajā pētījumā tiek aplūkoti augošā populisma un radikalizācijas ekonomiskie iemesli un sekas, kā arī ārējie un iekšējie ierobežojumi, vērsti uz negatīvo ekonomisko seku mazināšanu. Lai ilustrētu un pamatotu konstatējumus, tiks analizēti trīs gadījumi: nesenās politiskās radikalizācijas iemesli un sekas Grieķijā, Itālijā un ASV.
