Development Platforms as a Niche for Software Companies in Open Source Software

2006

As long as information systems do not become overly large and while they address a well-known domain, they can be controlled by engineering staff. Nevertheless, when dealing with large-scale, complex, or innovative information systems, it can be difficult to separate design issues and to formulate a meaningful information system proposal. In such a context, platforms for software engineering appear to be a promising approach. In this paper, we propose to view development platforms as a major opportunity for Open Source Software and Open Formats.

Transferencia valor-experiencia a través del patrocinio deportivo : antecedentes y consecuencias

2021

This study proposes a general model for sports sponsorship which takes as its central concept the transfe…

Assessing the quality of studies in meta-research: Review/guidelines on the most important quality assessment tools

2020

Systematic reviews and meta-analyses pool data from individual studies to generate a higher level of evidence to be evaluated by guidelines. These reviews ultimately guide clinicians and stakeholders in health-related decisions. However, the informativeness and quality of evidence synthesis inherently depend on the quality of what has been pooled into meta-research projects. Moreover, beyond the quality of included individual studies, only a methodologically correct process, in relation to systematic reviews and meta-analyses themselves, can produce a reliable and valid evidence synthesis. Hence, quality of meta-research projects also affects evidence synthesis reliability. In this overview…

Does stakeholder engagement encourage environmental reporting? The mediating role of firm performance

2020

Stakeholder engagement policies have become a relevant strategy in firms because they may signal to stakeholders the commitment of the firm to the stakeholder’s needs and demands. In this research, we aim to examine whether firms with stakeholder engagement policies tend to disclose more environmental information. Additionally, we analyse the moderating role played by firm performance on the association between stakeholder engagement and environmental disclosure. As far as we know, previous research has not addressed these two questions. Our evidence shows that firms with stakeholder engagement policies are more likely to report environmental information, while firm performance negatively m…

The Development of the Dealing with Challenging Interaction (DCI) Method to Evaluate Teachers’ Social Interaction Skills

2012

The Dealing with Challenging Interaction (DCI) method was developed to measure social interaction skills of teacher study groups. The participants were 70 teachers from three schools. The inter-rater agreement, Cohen’s kappa, varied between 0.57- 1.00. The discriminant validity was supported by a cluster analysis differentiating between the skilful and less skilful teachers. The results of the supplementary instrument were equivalent to the cluster analysis maintaining criterion oriented validity of the method developed. The DCI appeared to be a reliable and valid tool for measuring teachers’ social interaction skills. Peer reviewed

Studium zum Vorgang der Wasserstoffübertragung, 50. Elektroreduktion und phasentransferkatalysierte Borhydrid-reduktion prochiraler Ketone

1978

Electrochemical Conversion of Dichloroacetic Acid to Chloroacetic Acid in Conventional Cell and in Two Microfluidic Reactors

2013

The electrochemical conversion of dichloroacetic acid to chloracetic acid is investigated in conventional cells and in microreactors. Two different microreactors are used: the first is a filter press cell equipped with PTFE micrometric spacers, easy to assemble and disassemble and available for a large variety of electrodes and solvents; the second is made using an adhesive spacer, micromilling and press and could easily be developed on an industrial scale. The electrochemical synthesis is performed successfully in the microreactors equipped with a graphite cathode under proper operative conditions. The performance of the process strongly depends on the nature of the cathode and, for micror…

Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy of polyelectrolyte multilayer modified gold electrodes: influence of supporting electrolyte and temperature.

2005

Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry are employed to characterize poly(styrenesulfonate)/poly(allylamine hydrochloride) multilayers assembled onto cysteamine-modified gold surfaces. The influence of the supporting electrolyte and temperature on the impedance response is studied because of both its practical interest and the need to test further the capillary membrane model recently developed by Barreira et al. [J. Phys. Chem. B 2004, 108, 17973]. The results obtained are interpreted quite satisfactorily in terms of this model, thus providing additional support to its usefulness for the description of ionic transport through polyelectrolyte multilayers. It is observe…

Electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide to formic acid at a tin cathode in divided and undivided cells: effect of carbon dioxide pressure and oth…

2016

Abstract The reduction of carbon dioxide to formic acid at a tin cathode was studied in both divided and undivided cells. In the first stage of the study, the effect of some operating parameters, including the working potential and the nature of the supporting electrolyte and of the cathode, on both the cathodic reduction of CO2 and the anodic oxidation of formic acid was investigated in a divided cell. In a second stage, the reduction of carbon dioxide was performed in an undivided cell with the aim of studying the effect on the generation of formic acid of various operating parameters such as current density, cathode to anode area ratio, mixing rate and nature of the anode and of the supp…
