Presentamos un ejemplo de las posibilidades que ofrecen las serendipias como fuente de investigación. En muchas ocasiones establecer una relación entre esos objetos y las personas que los dejaron en los libros es difícil; en todo caso, nos dicen poco o no lo suficiente como para permitirnos trazar un mínimo itinerario vital. En el caso que aquí presentamos no ocurre así. La Universidad de Salamanca adquirió la biblioteca de Teodoro Martín Robles en 1954, con unos 2.000 títulos. The peritoneum is a serous membrane consisting of different kinds of cells and extracellular matrix components (ECM). The aim of the present study was to develop a three-dimensional (3D) in vitro culture system for possible investigation of pathological conditions of the peritoneum. Human omental mesothelial cells (MC) and endothelial cells from the umbilical vein (EC) were cultivated either on (MC) or in (EC) a preformed type I collagen matrix. In 3D culture mesothelial cells showed their phenotypical in vivo characteristics and the synthesis of a new basal membrane (BM). Background: This study aimed to investigate the early and longitudinal humoral response in Healthcare Workers (HCWs) after two doses of the BNT162b2 vaccine and to assess the association between metabolic and anthropometric parameters and the humoral response after vaccination. Methods: The study included 243 fully vaccinated HCWs: 25.50% previously infected with SARS-CoV-2 (with prior history of COVID-19—PH) and 74.40%—uninfected, seronegative before the first vaccination (with no prior history of COVID-19—NPH). The theory of warning signals dates back to Wallace but is still confusing, controversial and complex. Because predator avoidance of warningly coloured prey (aposematism) is based upon learning and reinforcement, it is difficult to understand how initially rare conspicuous forms subsequently become common. Here, we discuss several possible resolutions to this apparent paradox. Many of these ideas have been largely ignored as a result of implicit assumptions about predator behaviour and assumed lack of variation in the predators, prey and the predation process.
