Analysis of the Modifications in the Spectral and Morphologic Regularity during Ventricular Fibrillation Produced by Physical Exercise and the Use of…
2015
Chronic physical exercise modifies cardiac activity improving response to malignant arrhythmia and, specifically, ventricular fibrillation (VF). Drug administration as glibenclamide, responsible for K + ATP channel blocking, is also generating a positive response against fibrillation.
ACCOUNTING OUTSOURCING SERVICES IN LATVIA: PROBLEMS AND POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS
2013
Accounting outsourcing services as a type of business started developing in 1990ies. Political Interference in Financial Reporting in the Financial Industry: Evidence from Spain
2018
This paper provides a theoretical background, based on legal and political fields, which we adapt to explain political interference in accounting in the “public interest”, at a critical moment —the last financial crisis. This framework goes beyond the positive accounting theory, and in particular the political cost hypothesis, to explain politicians’ influence on financial reporting. We examine the behavior of the newly elected Spanish government, which issued accounting impairment rules for banks in spite of IFRS being in place. The paper considers a highly politically connected financial entity —Bankia— as a case under study, where the political interference might have impacted the accoun…
How Crime Spreads Through Imitation in Social Networks: A Simulation Model
2016
In this chapter an agent-based model for investigating how crime spreads through social networks is presented. Some theoretical issues related to the sociological explanation of crime are tested through simulation. The agent-based simulation allows us to investigate the relative impact of some mechanisms of social influence on crime, within a set of controlled simulated experiments.
Agreement on the Choice of Non-applicable Law or Law not in Accordance with Article 22(1) of the Twin Regulations: what Consequences for the Couple’s…
2021
Horizon: Resilience – Design of a Serious Game for Ecological Momentary Intervention for Depression
2021
Depression is the world’s most prevalent mental disorder and the primary source of disability adjusted life years (DALY). While traditional face-to-face therapies have been shown to be effective, alternative delivery methods, e.g. internet-based therapies, have been investigated to overcome barriers to access, such as lack of availability of therapists and infrastructure. This article presents the design of a mobile serious game as a novel psychological momentary ecological intervention for depressive symptoms. We discuss how selected principles and techniques of common psychological frameworks used to tackle depression, namely Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (including Behavioral Activation) …
Kinetics of cytomegalovirus (CMV) pp65 and IE-1-specific IFNgamma CD8+ and CD4+ T cells during episodes of viral DNAemia in allogeneic stem cell tran…
2010
The dynamics of CMV pp65 and IE-1-specific IFNgamma-producing CD8(+) (IFNgamma CD8(+)) and CD4(+) (IFNgamma CD4(+)) T cells and CMV DNAemia were assessed in 19 pre-emptively treated episodes of active CMV infection. Peripheral counts of IFNgamma CD8(+) and IFNgamma CD4(+) T cells inversely correlated with CMV DNAemia levels (P = <0.001 and P = 0.003, respectively). A threshold value of 1.3 cells/microl predicting CMV DNAemia clearance was established for IFNgamma CD8(+) T cells (PPV, 100%; NPV, 93%) and for IFNgamma CD4(+) T cells (PPV, 100%; NPV, 75%). Undetectable T-cell responses were usually observed at the time of initiation of pre-emptive therapy. Either a rapid (within 7 days) or a d…
Zur Frage der Darmkontrastierung in der abdominellen Computertomographie
1992
In 56 patients undergoing abdominal CT the gastrointestinal tract was defined by negative contrast instead of the conventional positive contrast from an iodine containing contrast medium. The contrast material was a 2 1/2% mannitol solution and was used for filling the rectum. Filling of the gastrointestinal tract was of similar quality to that obtained with positive contrast media. The number of artifacts due to high contrast boundaries was slightly greater with the negative contrast than it would have been with positive contrast. Differentiation of the gastrointestinal tract from other abdominal organs was equally good for both methods. The negative contrast method was poor in diagnosing …
