Palladium(II) Complexes of Aminopolycarboxylic Ligands in Aqueous Solution

The binding properties of HL1, HL2, and HL3 ligands toward Cu(II) and Zn(II) ions, constituted by tetraaza-macrocyclic rings decorated with pyrimidine pendants, were investigated by means of potentiometric and UV spectrophotometric measurements in aqueous solution, with the objective of using the related HL-M(II) (HL = HL1–HL3; M = Cu, Zn) complexes for the preparation of hybrid MWCNT-HL-M(II) materials based on multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), through an environmentally friendly noncovalent procedure. Abstract The protonation constants of polyacrylates with different molecular weights ( W =2000–750 000 Da) were determined in different ionic media (alkali metal chlorides and nitrates, tetraalkylammonium chlorides), at 25 °C, by potentiometric measurements (H + –glass electrode). Literature data were also considered. Different models used to analyse protonation data were compared: the first was the modified Henderson–Hasselbalch two-parameter equation, and the second was the three-parameter equation proposed by Hogfeldt. Synthesis of phenol–formaldehyde resole resins in the presence of tetraalkylammonium hydroxides as catalysts

Abstract We synthesised phenol–formaldehyde resole resins in the presence of tetraalkylammonium hydroxides as catalysts. The activity of these catalysts was compared with the activity of sodium hydroxide. Gas chromatography, thin layer chromatography, 13 C NMR spectrometry, potentiometric titration and a few simple physicochemical methods were used to estimate the composition of the obtained resins and their properties. It was concluded from these studies that tetraalkylammonium hydroxides are active catalysts and the resins obtained in their presence show some interesting properties.

Abstract The interaction of five open chain polyamines (ethylenediamine (en), diethylenetriamine (dien), trietylenetetramine (trien), tetraethylenepentamine (tetren), spermine (sper)) with the major components of seawater was studied potentiometrically at 25°C, in an artificial seawater (containing Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Cl− and SO42−) at different salinities (5–45‰). Abstract Solution studies to elucidate the coordination behaviour and the electrochemical response of the ferrocene-functionalized polyazamacrocycle 1,4,7,10,13,16-hexa(ferrocenylmethyl)-1,4,7,10,13,16-hexaazacyclooctadecane (L1) by potentiometric methods and electrochemical techniques have been carried out. Potentiometric methods in the presence of Cd2+, Hg2+, Pb2+ and Zn2+ were carried out in 1,4-dioxane/water (70:30 v/v, 25°C, 0.1 mol dm−3 KNO3). Electrochemical studies were carried out in acetonitrile/dichloromethane (50:50 v/v, 25°C, 0.1 mol dm−3 TBAClO4) in the presence of transition metal ions and anions.

Conformational investigations of bis(α-aminoalkyl)phosphinic acids and studies of the stability of their complexes with Cu(II)

Abstract Conformational investigations of a group of bis(α-aminoalkyl)phosphinic acids were performed by use of NMR spectroscopy and theoretical calculations. In the case of one of the studied compounds, substituted with aminobenzyl and amino(p-chlorobenzyl) moieties, a pH-dependent equilibrium between conformers, stabilized by intermolecular hydrogen bonds was observed. Potentiometric studies proved that these molecules formed stable complexes with copper(II) ions, where stoichiometry was 1:1 and 1:2 depending on pH of their aqueous solution.

Abstract The formation of complexes between Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) with Cephalexine has been investigated using potentiometric techniques. The stability constants of the complexes formed were calculated using the non-linear least-squares computer program SUPERQUAD. The obtained values were: Co(II) logβ1=2.40, logβMLOH=8.89; Ni(II) logβ1=2.80, logβ2=5.10, logβML2OH=12.09; Cu(II) logβ1=4.094 (25 °C, 0.1 M KNO3). Cu2+and AMP complexation of enlarged tripodal polyamines

The synthesis, characterization, Cu2+ coordination and interaction with AMP of three tripodal polyamines are reported. The polyamines are based on the structure of the tetraamine (tren) which has been enlarged with three propylamino functionalities (TAL), with a further anthrylmethyl fragment at one of its terminal primary nitrogens (ATAL) or with naphthylmethyl fragments at its three ends (N3TAL). The protonation constants of all three polyamines show that at pH 6, all six primary and secondary nitrogen atoms in the arms are protonated.
