Regulation of Acetylcholine Synthesis and Release in the Isolated Heart

1981

In the two decades following Loewi’s work (8,9) on the frog heart several research groups tried to use the isolated heart preparation from higher vertebrates for further investigations on synthesis, release and inactivation of acetylcholine (ACh). However the results were discouraging because the overflow of ACh during vagal stimulation was near, or below, the limit of the assay.

Effects of chronic exercise on myocardial refractoriness: a study on isolated rabbit heart

2008

Aim:  To determine whether chronic physical training increases atrial and ventricular refractoriness in isolated rabbit heart. Methods:  Trained rabbits were submitted to a protocol of treadmill running. The electrophysiological parameters of refractoriness investigated in an isolated heart preparation were: (1) atrial effective refractory period (AERP) and atrial functional refractory period and ventricular effective and functional refractory periods (VERP and VFRP) using the extrastimulus technique at four different pacing cycle lengths; (2) the dominant frequency (DF) of ventricular fibrillation (VF). A multi-electrode plaque containing 256 electrodes and a spectral method were used to o…

Preposizioni e defocalizzazione dell’agente in italoromanzo.

2013

Development of an lbuprofen-Releasing Biodegradable PLA/PGA Electrospun Scaffold for Tissue Regeneration

2009

Our aim was to develop a biodegradable fibrous dressing to act as a tissue guide for in situ wound repair while releasing Ibuprofen to reduce inflammation in wounds and reduce pain for patients on dressing changes. Dissolving the acid form of Ibuprofen (from 1% to 10% by weight) in the same solvent as 75% polylactide, 25% polyglycolide (PLGA) polymers gave uniformly loaded electrospun fibers which gave rapid release of drug within the first 8 h and then slower release over several days. Scaffolds with 10% Ibuprofen degraded within 6 days. The Ibuprofen released from these scaffolds significantly reduced the response of fibroblasts to major pro-inflammatory stimulators. Fibroblast attachment…

Structure–activity relationships, and drug metabolism and pharmacokinetic properties for indazole piperazine and indazole piperidine inhibitors of RO…

2007

ROCK has been implicated in many diseases ranging from glaucoma to spinal cord injury and is therefore an important target for therapeutic intervention. In this study, we have designed a series of 1-(4-(1H-indazol-5-yl)piperazin-1-yl)-2-hydroxy(or 2-amino) analogs and a series of 1-(4-(1H-indazol-5-yl amino)piperidin-1-yl)-2-hydroxy(or 2-amino) inhibitors of ROCK-II. SR-1459 has IC50 = 13 nM versus ROCK-II while the IC50s for SR-715 and SR-899 are 80 nM and 100 nM, respectively. Many of these inhibitors, especially the 2-amino substituted analogs for both series, are modest/potent CYP3A4 inhibitors as well. However, a few of these inhibitors (SR-715 and SR-899) show strong selectivity for R…

Quantitative Proteome and Phosphoproteome Profiling in Magnaporthe oryzae

2021

The quality and consistency in every sample preparation procedure is crucial for any scientific output. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to have easy, economic, and robust sample preparation protocols. Here, we describe a simple and robust bottom-up proteomic sample preparation strategy for identification and label-free quantification (LFQ) of proteins and phosphoproteins. The presented workflow is designed for large-scale application and involves easy scalable and well-known robust sample preparation techniques, such as cell lysis with SDS buffer under heat, protein precipitation using methanol/chloroform, tryptic digest, and commercially available TiO2 phosphopeptide enrichment kits.…

Sorption of copper(II) ions in the biomass of alga Spirogyra sp.

2012

Abstract Sorption of copper ions by the alga Spirogyra sp. was investigated to determine the influence of experimental conditions and the methods of sample preparation on the process. The experiments were carried out both under the static and the dynamic conditions. Kinetics and equilibrium parameters of the sorption were evaluated. In addition, the influence was studied of the algae preparation methods on the conductivity of demineralized water in which the algae samples were immersed. The static experiments showed that the sorption of Cu2+ ions reached equilibrium in about 30 min, with approximately 90% of the ions adsorbed in the initial 15 min. The sorption capacity determined from the …

Association of mechanical bowel preparation with oral antibiotics and anastomotic leak following left sided colorectal resection: an international, m…

2018

INTRODUCTION: The optimal bowel preparation strategy to minimise the risk of anastomotic leak is yet to be determined. This study aimed to determine whether oral antibiotics combined with mechanical bowel preparation (MBP+Abx) was associated with a reduced risk of anastomotic leak when compared to mechanical bowel preparation alone (MBP) or no bowel preparation (NBP).METHODS: A pre-planned analysis of the European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP) 2017 Left Sided Colorectal Resection audit was performed. Patients undergoing elective left sided colonic or rectal resection with primary anastomosis between 1 January 2017 and 15 March 2017 by any operative approach were included. The primary out…

The ATLAS Level-1 Calorimeter Trigger: PreProcessor implementation and performance

2012

The PreProcessor system of the ATLAS Level-1 Calorimeter Trigger (L1Calo) receives about 7200 analogue signals from the electromagnetic and hadronic components of the calorimetric detector system. Lateral division results in cells which are pre-summed to so-called Trigger Towers of size 0.1 × 0.1 along azimuth (phi) and pseudorapidity (η). The received calorimeter signals represent deposits of transverse energy. The system consists of 124 individual PreProcessor modules that digitise the input signals for each LHC collision, and provide energy and timing information to the digital processors of the L1Calo system, which identify physics objects forming much of the basis for the full ATLAS fi…
