Systematic procedure for the preparation of sets of calibration standards for x-ray fluorescence analysis of ceramic materials

1998

A systematic procedure for the preparation of optimized sets of calibration solid standards for the x-ray fluorescence analysis of ceramic materials is described. The matrix of the contents of the N analytes in the n standards (n ≥ N) is calculated from an n x N experimental design matrix, and from the upper and lower limits of the calibration range for each of the N analytes. Two procedures, which are useful for taking into account analyte interactions, are proposed for constructing the experimental design matrix, i.e. the scroll procedure and the procedure of the centers. A program developed to help the analyst in designing and preparing the set of standards following the proposed procedu…

FIA—FT—IR determination of ibuprofen in pharmaceuticals

1992

A method has been developed for the determination of Ibuprofen (2-[4-isobutylphenyl]-propionic acid) in pharmaceuticals by FT-IR, using the carbonyl band which this compound presents at 1710 cm(-1) in carbon tetrachloride solutions. Samples are dissolved in carbon tetrachloride. In this solvent the excipients are not soluble and so the drug can be directly determined without any additional treatment. The use of a simple FIA manifold permits one to carry out this analysis with a low consumption of reagent and the FT-IR provides a continuous monitoring of the spectral base-line which permits an accurate determination of the maximum in the absorbance band. Also, the FIA system permits easy and…

The development and validation of a rapid method for the determination of antimicrobial agent residues in milk and meat using ultra performance liqui…

2014

Abstract A new multi-class method has been developed for the identification and quantification of the residues of 26 antibiotics from different classes (sulfonamides, macrolides, tetracyclines, penicillins, and quinolones) in milk and meat by ultra performance liquid chromatography coupled to hybrid quadrupole – high resolution Orbitrap mass spectrometry (UPLC–qOrbitrap). The sample preparation included extraction of two analytical portions with acetonitrile and 5% trichloroacetic acid, respectively, followed by centrifugation and filtration. The method was validated over three days at 50% of MRL (maximum residue limit) set in the European Union. Experiments on spiked meat and milk samples …

Implementing a new pedagogy in the nursing curriculum: Bachelor students’ evaluation

2017

Background: Inspired by the work of Benner and colleagues at Carnegie Foundation, a new course in nursing was implemented in the first study year’s curriculum in the bachelor program in nursing. The new nursing course included a shift from a lecture-only classroom based approach to a problem-based and case-based approach. Reflections and discussions in groups with fellow students and supervisors was the main activity. The aim of this study was to examine how the students experienced the new nursing course. Methods: The survey study was conducted at a university in southern Norwegian. The sample consisted of students in two subsequent classes (n = 126 and n = 118), who had followed the new st…

School Engagement and Burnout Among Students: Preparing for Work Life

2015

This chapter conceptualizes the process of school burnout, dropout and school engagement in the context of the school demands-resources model, analogous to the job demands-resources model applied in the work and health research area. Dropout from school could be viewed as one of the consequences of the burnout process. Applying the same conceptual models to both sides of the school-to-work transition brings these two areas of life closer to each other and facilitates research on this major transition. This chapter also reviews the longitudinal research on school engagement, burnout and dropout from educational careers and describes the consequences of different experiences of young people i…

Desarrollo vocacional y preparación para la carrera profesional en estudiantes universitarios

2014

Abstract.VOCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND PREPARATION FOR CAREER IN COLLEGE STUDENTSPreparation for career emerges as a variable of interest in the university environment to the extent that these students pursue primarily their integration in the workplace for being formed. Moreover, the research reveals the importance of career development at the time of satisfaction and achievement in getting decisions made ??. Both variables are configured as highlights in the processes of counseling and vocational and career guidance. The aim of this study was to establish the relationship between preparation for career and vocational development considering gender as covariates and vocational group membershi…

Controlled Release of Metformin Hydrochloride from Core-Shell Nanofibers with Fish Sarcoplasmic Protein

2019

Ficai, Anton/0000-0002-1777-0525; Karademir, Betul/0000-0003-1762-0284 WOS:000503463400074 PubMed ID: 31658758 Background and Objectives: A coaxial electrospinning technique was used to produce core/shell nanofibers of a polylactic acid (PLA) as a shell and a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) containing metformin hydrochloride (MH) as a core. Materials and Methods: Fish sarcoplasmic protein (FSP) was extracted from fresh bonito and incorporated into nanofiber at various concentrations to investigate the influence on properties of the coaxial nanofibers. The morphology, chemical structure and thermal properties of the nanofibers were studied. Results: The results show that uniform and bead-free struct…

Presence of pharmaceuticals and heavy metals in the waters of a Mediterranean coastal wetland: Potential interactions and the influence of the enviro…

2015

The occurrence of 17 relevant pharmaceuticals and 7 heavy metals in the waters of the Pego-Oliva Marsh Natural Park (Valencia Community, Spain) were monitored. Thirty four zones (including the lagoon and the most important irrigation channels), covering the main land uses and water sources, were selected for sampling. Thirty three of them were contaminated with at least one pharmaceutical. Ibuprofen and codeine were the pharmaceuticals more frequently detected, in concentrations between 4.8 and 1.2 ng/L and a maximum of 59 ng/L and 63 ng/L, respectively.Regarding metals, Zn showed values under the detection limit in all the samples, while Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Ni and Pb were detected at concentra…
